About the Position:GPTech is seeking a
Consultant who is an expert on solar energy to support opportunity growth and assist clients transition to solar energy solutions in MD as well as surrounding areas such as VA, DC, PA, DE, and WV. Responsibilities may include supporting pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, designing PV arrays, glare analysis, PV optimization studies, design evaluation, construction support, and on-site inspections (including measurement and verification) in residential, commercial, and government facilities. Additional tasks may include educating clients on financial benefits of solar energy, consulting with clients to identify energy needs, collaborating with local management and engineering teams, performing comprehensive financial assessments such as ROI, and energy cost savings, understanding local, state, and federal code requirements, tax credits, and regulations, and overseeing project completion in a timely manner.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation/security clearance.Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise related to solar energy systems
- Educate clients about solar solutions, and identify their energy needs
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitive products
- Collaborate with local management and engineering teams
- Perform technical and financial assessments such as ROI, and energy cost savings calculations
- Understand local, state, and federal code requirements, tax credits, and regulations
Minimum Qualifications- U.S. citizenship with the ability to pass a background investigation
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional solar energy experience
- Professional writing and verbal skills
- Proficiency in energy modeling software and spreadsheet-based engineering calculations.
- Proficiency with software tools for research, analysis, reporting, communications, and collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will also have some of the following:
- Professional Engineer license or Engineer in Training (EIT)
- LEED AP or similar certification
- NABCEP Certification
- Active Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) credential from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
- Active U.S. security clearance
- Knowledge of and experience with federal and state government organizations, federal and state energy policies and mandates, and energy management strategies goals
- Field and desk experience with renewable energy system design, installation, operations, maintenance, inspection, and diagnostics
- Prior experience working for a government contractor
