Omitron is seeking a Mid-LevelTest Engineer to support software quality assurance and verification activities for the SOLACE program in Colorado Springs, CO. In this role, you will be responsible for validating mission-critical Space Domain Awareness (SDA) command-and-control software supporting operational spaceflight safety and decision-making. You will work closely with software engineers, system engineers, and program leadership to develop and execute test strategies that ensure correctness, reliability, and traceability of complex data processing and system workflows. This role emphasizes functional and integration testing, validation of computational outputs, and development of automated test capabilities. Remote work considered for well-qualified candidates. This is a full-time position supporting a flexible work environment. This role operates in a hybrid model with periodic in-office presence in Colorado Springs (~1–2 days per week) to support integration, testing, and collaboration activities.
Responsibilities:
Develop, document, and execute test plans, test cases, and procedures based on system and software requirements
Validate system behavior and data processing outputs across complex workflows and integrations
Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing across development and test environments
Identify, document, and track defects; collaborate with developers to support timely resolution
Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and test results
Develop and maintain automated tests to improve coverage and testing efficiency
Participate in design discussions and provide feedback on testability and software quality
Investigate and troubleshoot defects, identifying root causes and validating fixes
Support integration, validation, and release activities across system components
Contribute to test documentation, reporting, and communication with stakeholders
Participate in iterative or hybrid development cycles, including planning and test coordination
Minimum Requirements:
US Citizenship required
Security Clearance: No clearance required to start. Must be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance if needed
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
Experience: 3+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or related technical role
Experience developing and executing test plans and test cases
Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and development lifecycle
Experience with defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira or similar)
Proficiency in a scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Java, or similar)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including debugging and root cause analysis
Experience working collaboratively with development and systems engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience testing data processing or computation-heavy systems
Experience developing automated tests using frameworks such as pytest, JUnit, or similar
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration
Familiarity with structured data validation (e.g., JSON, XML, or similar)
Experience supporting aerospace, space operations, or defense software programs
Experience working in Agile or hybrid development environments
Current or prior DoD security clearance
Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $130,000, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
