Description

Job Title: Software Quality EngineerJob Description

As a Software Quality Engineer, you will support software verification activities for medical device instrument software. Your role will involve executing pre-written functional, integration, and regression test protocols, performing hands-on testing of instrument user interfaces and software applications, and documenting test results. You will be responsible for identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects while assisting with verification reports and traceability documentation. Collaboration with Software Quality Engineers and Engineering teams throughout the verification campaign is essential, as is adhering to established quality procedures within a regulated development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute pre-written functional, integration, and regression test protocols.
  • Perform hands-on testing of instrument user interfaces and software applications.
  • Document test results and record pass/fail outcomes.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects.
  • Assist with verification reports and traceability documentation.
  • Collaborate with Software Quality Engineers and Engineering teams.
  • Work within established quality procedures and a regulated development environment.

Essential Skills

  • Software testing and quality assurance experience.
  • Knowledge of validation, defect tracking, and test execution.
  • Ability to accurately execute and document pre-written test protocols.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual testing skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor"s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related technical field.
  • Open to recent graduates and candidates with 0-3 years of experience.
  • Internship experience is acceptable.
  • Experience in a regulated environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SDLC, software quality processes, and test documentation preferred.
  • Basic SQL knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with GUI testing or testing user-facing applications is a plus.
  • Familiarity with defect tracking tools such as Helix preferred.

Work Environment

This is a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates or early-career QA professionals to build software verification experience in the biotech/medical device industry. You will work in a collaborative environment focused on manual testing, documentation, and attention to detail. The team is keen to move quickly due to an upcoming verification campaign.

This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $62.00/hr.
