Maxonic maintains a close and long-term relationship with our direct client. In support of their needs, we are looking for a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer - ROS 2 Test Engineer.

 


Job Title: Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer - ROS 2 Test Engineer

Job Type: Contract to Hire (6 - 12 months)

Job Location: Fremont, CA

Work Schedule: Onsite

Pay Rate: $80-85 on W2

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Software Quality & Validation

  • Develop verification and validation strategies for software releases.
  • Create comprehensive test plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria based on system requirements.
  • Validate ROS 2 nodes, services, actions, middleware communication, and distributed robotic applications.
  • Perform functional, integration, system, regression, and reliability testing.
  • Verify robot motion planning, task execution, safety interlocks, computer vision, and HMI workflows.
  • Ensure software meets performance, reliability, and production readiness requirements.

Test Automation

  • Develop automated test frameworks using Python, ROS 2 testing tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Create automated regression suites for  applications.
  • Build simulation-based validation environments
  • Integrate automated testing into Jenkins and software release pipelines.

System Integration

Test end-to-end robotic workflows involving:

  • Collaborative robots (cobots)
  • Computer vision systems
  • Sensors and actuators
  • Motion control systems
  • Validate hardware/software integrations across development, pilot, and production environments.
  • Support engineering characterization, qualification, and production-release testing activities.

Defect Management & Quality Improvement

  • Reproduce, isolate, and document software defects.
  • Drive root-cause analysis with software and systems engineering teams.
  • Verify corrective actions and regression coverage.
  • Track quality metrics and continuously improve test effectiveness.

Release Readiness

  • Participate in design reviews and software release reviews.
  • Ensure production software meets release criteria.
  • Support reliability testing and product qualification activities.
  • Provide quality signoff for platform releases and application deployments.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Software Test Engineering, or Validation Engineering.
  • Experience testing ROS 2 applications.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience with Ubuntu Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks and CI/CD processes.
  • Experience debugging complex software systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with ROS 2 production deployments.
  • Experience with MoveIt, Nav2, Gazebo, Ignition, or ros2_control.
  • Experience testing robotic manipulation or motion planning systems.
  • Experience validating computer vision and machine-learning-based applications.
  • Familiarity with Docker containerized environments.
  • Experience with industrial automation or semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering and qualification testing.
  • Experience with collaborative robots and robotic workcells
