Job Title: Junior Backend Developer – Java / AWS

We are seeking a Junior Backend Developer to join a collaborative engineering team responsible for ingesting, transforming, and distributing critical broadcast metadata across enterprise streaming apps and consumer devices. This position provides an exceptional growth runway for an emerging software engineer to deepen their core Java skills, gain hands-on production experience refactoring services to native AWS environments, and learn directly alongside established technical mentors in a supportive, team-first culture.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Develop and Refactor Backend Services: Build, enhance, and maintain core Java and Spring Boot backend microservices, assisting with the migration and optimization of existing applications into modern, native AWS cloud services (EKS and EC2).
Power Data Ingestion Pipelines: Help expand high-volume ingestion workflows responsible for processing third-party broadcast schedules and media metadata, transitioning legacy batch-file feeds into real-time, resilient REST APIs.
Own Quality and Automated Testing: Write comprehensive unit, integration, and regression test suites using JUnit and Mockito to ensure robust code reliability across all staging and production environments.
Troubleshoot and Monitor Systems: Utilize centralized log management and observability tools (Splunk, CloudWatch) to track downstream data flows, investigate service alerts, and debug pipeline exceptions.
Collaborate with Cutting-Edge Tooling: Actively participate in peer code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and leverage AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate test generation, documentation, and clean architecture practices.
Here’s what our ideal candidate has:
Formal Computer Science Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
Foundational Java & Object-Oriented Principles: 1–3 years of hands-on software development experience (including relevant internships, co-ops, or post-graduate roles) with a solid understanding of core Java syntax, keywords, collections, and exception handling.
Modern Framework & Data Exposure: Familiarity with Spring Boot, building or consuming RESTful APIs, and working with modern data stores (such as MongoDB, DocumentDB, or relational SQL databases).
Cloud & Automation Curiosity: Basic exposure to cloud and container concepts (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD version control workflows (Git, GitLab, or Jenkins).
Collaborative Mindset & Growth Drive: Strong desire to learn from experienced senior engineers, receive constructive feedback, and work on-site in a 4-day hybrid collaborative environment.
