    Description

Amazon Leo is a initiative within Amazon that aims to revolutionize global connectivity through the development of a state-of-the-art Low Earth Orbit (LEO) interconnected satellite communication constellation. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide by delivering high-speed, low latency, internet services to underserved and unserved communities and remote communities around the world. By leveraging satellite technology, we are working towards a future where everyone has access to reliable and high-quality internet connectivity regardless of their location.

The Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) Engineering organization is a multi-disciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted government and international customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. ALG Engineering leads the development and delivery of targeted and scalable solutions for custom space and terrestrial applications. ALG collaborates closely with Project LEO to leverage the constellation of advance satellites to provide seamless and efficient communication capabilities to meet the needs of our customers. The ALG Engineering team is seeking highly technical and talented individuals who are passionate about creating unique solutions that result in a positive impact on a global scale.

    About the Role

The Software Integration & Test (I&T) Engineer will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to design, develop, and own software tooling and frameworks that enable integration testing within system lab environments for space-based and terrestrial applications. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and systems verification - you will define how teams test, not just what they test.

Working within Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) Engineering Integrated Systems Solutions, you will architect and deliver reusable test platforms, automation frameworks, and lab infrastructure software that accelerate verification of complex integrated hardware and software systems. You will serve as the technical owner of lab tooling strategy, driving decisions on architecture, interfaces, and developer experience while collaborating across inter-disciplinary teams, partners, and suppliers.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working on complex Hardware/Software systems with a diverse set of talented individuals, as well as with partner organizations.

Security Clearance: This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.

    Key job responsibilities

Own the design, development, and long-term health of test automation frameworks, orchestration platforms, and CI/CD-integrated tooling consumed by I&T engineers and subsystem teams in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and system lab environments

Architect, design, and validate software tooling - including test algorithms, scripts, calibration routines, and data visualization - required for verification and validation of complex hardware systems

Define and drive tooling best practices across the lab engineering organization, establishing patterns for automation, observability, and infrastructure-as-code that raise the bar for the broader team

Analyze test data and engage cross-functionally with teammates, partners, suppliers, and customers to evaluate product performance and provide proactive feedback on potential improvements

Prepare reports documenting test results, test coverage, performance metrics, and other KPIs; communicate issues effectively with developers and managers

Manage and drive to closure test anomalies, defects, and bugs; debug, root-cause, and make continuous improvements to control systems in a high-rate production environment

Operate independently to identify gaps in test infrastructure, propose solutions, and drive implementation with minimal direction - making pragmatic tradeoffs between speed and long-term maintainability

Mentor junior engineers on software development practices, code quality, and test automation design patterns

Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware teams, and external partners to ensure tooling supports all phases of integration, test, verification, and validation across satellite and ground element campaigns

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
