Kforce has a client seeking a Software Test Automation Engineer in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Position Summary: The Software Test Automation Engineer designs, builds, and maintains automated test frameworks for AUTOSAR-based embedded software. This role focuses on test strategy, automation, and validation rather than feature development. The engineer expands coverage across SIL, HIL, and vehicle environments, integrates testing into CI/CD, and supports functional safety and development process requirements. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain automated test suites for AUTOSAR BSW, including CAN, SOME/IP, SWC integration, time synchronization, and GPIO processing
• Build reusable test automation frameworks, harnesses, stimulus/measurement tools, and test data pipelines
• Expand automated coverage across SIL, HIL, and vehicle environments
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD and define build/merge gates and scheduled testing
• Triage failures and distinguish test, environment/tooling, flaky behavior, and software defects
• Maintain traceability between test cases, requirements, and results
• Use CANoe, CANalyzer, or equivalent tools for protocol-level testing and diagnostics
• Collaborate with development, systems, and safety teams on test criteria and automation priorities
• Report coverage, automation progress, defect trends, and release readiness
• Improve test infrastructure reliability, speed, and maintainability

Expected Scope:

• Own assigned automated test suites and CI/CD validation workflows
• Drive coverage from SIL through HIL and, where applicable, vehicle testing
• Validate AUTOSAR configuration, integration, and feature implementation rather than developing the underlying software
• Ensure test evidence supports functional safety and ASPICE-aligned reviews
• Identify automation and coverage gaps and independently implement solutions

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building or maintaining automated test frameworks for embedded or automotive software
• Strong proficiency in Python or a similar scripting/automation language for test tooling, harnesses, and CI-integrated test scripts
• Working knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic architecture & Basic Software (BSW) concepts sufficient to design meaningful test cases
• Experience testing or validating automotive communication protocols such as CAN, with familiarity with SOME/IP or similar service-oriented communication
• Experience with SIL and/or HIL test environments, including test bench setup, stimulus generation, & results capture
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or equivalent
• Ability to independently triage test failures and distinguish tooling/environment issues from software defects
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document test frameworks and results
• Experience testing ADAS, autonomous vehicle, or other safety-critical embedded systems
• Experience with Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, or comparable automotive network simulation, testing, and diagnostic tools
• Experience with embedded debugging/test tooling such as Lauterbach Trace32, iSYSTEM winIDEA, or JTAG-based tools
• Experience working within functional safety processes, including test-related safety work products
• Experience with ASPICE-aligned development & verification processes
• Familiarity with AUTOSAR tooling such as PREEvision or Vector DaVinci and how configuration changes affect test scope
• Experience with test result dashboards, coverage reporting, or test management tools
• Experience mentoring engineers on test automation practices/establishing test automation standards
