Purpose of the Role As the organization scales, the engineering function needs a leader who can raise technical capability while helping engineers grow into high-performing contributors. This role will focus on developing talent, lifting engineering standards, delivering more consistently, supporting architecture decisions, reinforcing ownership and accountability, strengthening team culture, and contributing to hiring and succession planning.
Backgrounds That Fit Well Candidates currently working as an Engineering Manager, Software Development Manager, Technical Engineering Manager, Application Development Manager, Engineering Team Lead, Lead Software Engineer, Principal or Staff Software Engineer with leadership duties, or a Solutions Architect with people leadership experience.
Industry experience in fintech, financial services, SaaS, enterprise software, product development, or regulated environments is a strong plus.
Required Experience- Substantial hands-on software engineering background
- Three or more years leading software engineering teams
- Demonstrated coaching, mentoring, and development of engineers
- Performance management experience
- Hiring and onboarding experience
- Solid grasp of Agile development
- Ability to discuss architecture and technical tradeoffs
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Technical Experience Preference goes to candidates familiar with .NET, Python, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Docker, Symfony, AWS, API design, cloud architecture, enterprise software design, and modern engineering practices.
