Software Engineer to support a shipyard-focused program. This role involves building and enhancing custom software solutions, analytics tools, and system integrations that support maintenance operations, performance tracking, and IT system management.The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software development, experience with integrated IT environments—including Navy or defense-related IT systems—and the ability to contribute to data-driven applications and reporting platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain software applications to support operational and IT system needs
- Write, test, debug, and optimize code throughout the software development lifecycle
- Create custom scripts, queries, macros, and analytics tools to support performance tracking and reporting
- Contribute to the development and sustainment of enterprise IT software solutions
- Assist with system deployment activities, including testing and release evaluations
- Build applications that support dashboards, reporting tools, and data visualizations
- Collaborate with internal teams on software portfolio planning and solution development
- Develop and implement data integration solutions across multiple systems, including Navy IT systems
- Support modernization initiatives, including enhancements to system usability and user experience
- Create interactive training materials and instructional modules related to project management and system usage
- Participate in program reviews, technical discussions, and governance meetings
- Assess application performance and identify opportunities for improvement in both functionality and user adoption
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related discipline
- 4–7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise data management
Preferred Qualifications- Graduate degree in a related technical discipline
- Extensive experience (8–10+ years) in software engineering
- Experience working with Navy IT systems or other large-scale, defense-related IT environments
- Experience with database development and SQL programming
- Background in web-based application development and data visualization tools
- Experience supporting complex, large-scale IT programs
- Familiarity with enterprise maintenance or operations systems
- Experience working in Agile or iterative development environments
