The Triage Intelligence and Debug Engineering team operates at the deepest layers of Apple's software stack, with a mandate that spans the entire product ecosystem. The work we do directly shapes the reliability of over 2 billion active Apple devices - every crash triaged, every panic root-caused, and every automated pipeline we build contributes to the OS stability that hundreds of millions of people depend on every day. We partner closely with engineering teams across Apple to drive that reliability end-to-end, influencing how the entire organization detects, understands, and resolves systemic failures.

As a member of the Core Device Management team, you will have the opportunity to influence product features, implement new OS-level functionality, and work cross-functionally with many other teams across Apple to design and implement innovative solutions to the problems organizations face while incorporating technology without compromising the Apple user experience for the end user of each device. Device Management is the layer within iOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS which is relied upon by many system components for managing settings locally as well as handling communication with device management tools like Apple Configurator and Device Management (MDM) servers. As most system components require some form of management, the Device Management team builds partnerships with many different engineering teams across the company, from system and Apple's App Store apps to low-level OS infrastructure. Apple's commitment to developing innovative solutions for education and enterprise customers has never been stronger, and we have more exciting features in the works that will delight our customers. If you are excited about enabling the use of the latest Apple devices and technology in schools, businesses, and governments around the world, come join our team and make a difference!

Present technical concepts, including overall device management architecture and plug-in requirements, to new cross-functional partners.

Improve and maintain the core MDM networking protocol and functionality used by Apple Business, Apple School Manager, and third-party MDM vendors worldwide every day

Collaborate with cross-functional partners to design and implement device management solutions for their projects.

Collaborate with framework teams to reduce complexity and improve the developer experience for device management adopters

Contribute to and influence team roadmaps in partnership with product and engineering management.

Experience with professional software development in a C-like programming language (Swift, Objective-C, Java, C++, C#, etc.)

Familiarity with concurrent programming concepts and design patterns, such as multi-threading, serialization, and locking

Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies while working collaboratively with others

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, an engineering-related field, or equivalent related experience

Experience applying ML or AI techniques to systems problems - crash clustering, log anomaly detection, failure classification, or intelligent alert prioritization

Familiarity with LLMs or generative AI tooling in an engineering context - prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, or AI-assisted debugging workflows

Prior coursework or project experience in OS internals, systems programming, or low-level debugging

Familiarity with Apple platform internals: XNU kernel, Darwin subsystems, IOKit, libdispatch, or dyld

Contributions to automation frameworks or developer tooling that improved engineering productivity

Experience or interest in collaborating across silicon, firmware, or platform systems teams

Enthusiasm for building tools and systems that empower other engineers
