Join an engineering team developing and sustaining the rugged embedded technology that supports mission-critical military systems. We are seeking an experienced
Software Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and modernize software for embedded computing platforms, automated test equipment (ATE), and military-grade electronics.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware and solving challenging, real-world technical problems. Youll contribute throughout the engineering lifecyclefrom requirements and architecture through development, hardware/software integration, testing, reverse engineering, and sustainment. The work includes both developing new capabilities and breathing new life into legacy defense systems that must continue performing reliably in demanding environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and test software for rugged embedded computing systems, automated test equipment, and military electronic systems.
- Develop software using C/C++, Python, and other applicable programming languages for embedded and hardware-integrated applications.
- Support reverse-engineering and modernization efforts involving legacy software, firmware, hardware interfaces, and electronic systems.
- Analyze existing systems and develop modern, maintainable software solutions that replicate or improve legacy functionality.
- Develop and maintain software tools supporting manufacturing, system diagnostics, troubleshooting, testing, and product validation.
- Integrate software with processors, electronic hardware, communications interfaces, sensors, and other embedded components.
- Troubleshoot complex hardware/software integration issues through hands-on testing and analysis.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, systems, test, and manufacturing engineers throughout product development and sustainment.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, design, coding, integration, verification, validation, and sustainment.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including software designs, interface specifications, test documentation, and engineering reports.
- Support production and sustainment activities for fielded military electronic systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably involving embedded systems, electronic systems, or hardware-integrated software.
- Proficiency with C and/or C++ and experience with additional languages such as Python.
- Experience developing software that interfaces directly with electronic hardware.
- Understanding of embedded software concepts, hardware/software interfaces, device-level communications, or real-time systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware integration problems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex technical systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing firmware or real-time embedded software.
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Background supporting military, defense, aerospace, avionics, or other mission-critical electronic systems.
- Experience developing software for automated test equipment (ATE) or hardware test systems.
- Experience with reverse engineering, obsolescence management, or legacy system modernization.
- Familiarity with device drivers, low-level communications protocols, and hardware interfaces.
- Knowledge of applicable DoD development standards, cybersecurity requirements, or secure coding practices.
- Experience with version control and modern development tools such as Git, Jenkins, or other CI/CD platforms.
- Experience supporting software through production, fielding, sustainment, or remanufacturing.
