Software Engineer IV (Senior Quality Engineer / SDET)
Birmingham, AL / Charlotte, NC/ Atlanta, Georgia (hybrid- onsite 3 days per week)
6-12-month contract to hire
Pay Rate: $65.00 - $70.00per hr.
Our client is seeking two Senior Quality Engineers (SDET-level) to support the same Digital Origination platform. Although titled "Software Engineer IV,” this role is not a traditional development role. It is a senior-level Quality Engineering / test automation position responsible for ensuring release readiness across customer-facing digital banking applications. The engineer will integrate into an established QA automation process supporting both manual and automated testing across all phases of delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites
- Execute both manual and automated testing for release validation
- Ensure end-to-end test coverage across releases
- Support UI, API, and backend testing efforts
- Participate in full QA lifecycle (planning through release validation)
- Collaborate with developers and product teams on quality assurance
- Improve automation coverage and testing efficiency
- Support release readiness and production stability
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
- Seven (7) years of experience
- Senior-level SDET or Quality Engineering experience
- Strong experience with C# / .NET
- Strong test automation experience (framework-level, not just execution)
- Experience with:
- UI automation testing
- API testing
- SQL testing
- Experience working in enterprise-scale applications
Automation & Testing Experience (Flexible Tooling)
The team is tool-agnostic, focused on depth of automation experience.
UI Automation (any of the following acceptable)
- Selenium (current)
- Playwright
- Cypress
- Other modern automation frameworks
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Selenium or Playwright experience
- Performance testing exposure:
- JMeter
- K6
- LoadRunner
- Experience testing large enterprise applications
- Experience with digital banking or origination systems
