You will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team working alongside senior engineers, designers, and technologists, where you will learn the craft of software engineering by contributing to real client solutions from day one.

You will assist in building software across the full stack, taking on well-defined tasks with close guidance and growing your skills with every engagement. Youll participate in team discussions, collaborate with technical and non-technical colleagues, and develop a firsthand understanding of how great engineering teams operate. You will learn fast, embrace feedback, and build a strong technical foundation in a high-impact environment.

Your work will help solve some of the most complex and high-impact challenges facing clients across industries. Collaborating across QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey and QuantumBlack Labs teams, youll help develop innovative software capabilities and scalable enterprise solutions. Youll help build robust technical foundations for production-ready, AI-enabled systems. Your contributions will directly support the firms ability to accelerate AI adoption, solve complex business problems at scale, and enable clients to achieve meaningful, lasting impact.

Youll be based in one of our North America offices as part of our global Software Engineering community. Working in cross-functional teams, youll collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and industry experts to deliver software solutions. By partnering with clients from technical teams to C-level executives, youll help solve complex problems that drive tangible business value and begin to build your skills as a client-facing technologist.

Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, youll gain a holistic understanding of how software engineering enables advanced AI while collaborating with some of the leading technologists and AI practitioners in the industry.

• This internship is for students with graduation dates between December 2027 and August 2028 and currently pursuing an undergraduate or masters degree in a computer science related field
• Foundational knowledge of software development and an eagerness to build hands-on experience across the full stack, including frontend and backend technologies, SQL databases, and cloud platforms
• Basic understanding of RESTful API concepts, common software design patterns, and relational database fundamentals, with the ability to contribute to well-defined tasks with close guidance
• Foundational awareness of cloud platforms and the basics of how applications are deployed and maintained, including introductory exposure to CI/CD concepts
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code, with the judgment to review and take accountability for AI-generated outputs; exposure to delivering well-scoped features within an existing system under guidance
• A security mindset -committed to following team security practices and writing clean, functional code, with a willingness to learn test frameworks such as Jest or PyTest
• Experience working in cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with developers and cross-functional teammates
• Exceptional time management to meet your responsibilities in a complex and largely autonomous work environment
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and local office language(s), with the ability to adjust your style to suit different perspectives and seniority levels
