Software Engineer Intern (Global Payment - Compliance) - 2027 Fall

About Global Payment The Global Payment team of ByteDance provides payment solutions - including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on to ensure that our users have a smooth and secure payment experience on ByteDance platforms including TikTok.

The mission of payment compliance is to build payment compliance strategy & solutions to prevent regulatory risks, and apply flexible strategy to match payment partners' risk appetite in order to reduce channel risk & spillover. We work closely with algorithm and strategy engineers to build a reliable compliance product system to ensure payment compliance of ByteDance products, including TikTok LIVE, TikTok E-commerce, etc.

We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship. Our internship program offers students hands-on experience, industry exposure, and opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges while building a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. Interns will gain practical experience, explore potential career paths, and participate in social events, learning programs, and development workshops alongside industry professionals. Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software design and architecture for global payment systems;
• Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle;
• Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code;
• Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting;
• Review and debug code; Perform validation and verification testing;
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to fix and improve our products;
• Document development phases and monitor systems;
• Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologiesMinimum Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline;
• Excellent programming, debugging, and optimization skills in one or more general purpose programming languages
• Strong communication and excellent teamwork skills; flexible and be a self-starter.
• Agile, quick self learner, highly self-motivated with strong sense of product ownership and creative problem solver;
• Good collaborator and team player, comfortable working in a fast moving, culturally diverse and globally distributed team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant internship experience with hands on exposure to the tech stack
• Interested in payment industry
