BaySpec, a San Jose, California based novel analytical instrumentation company is seeking a software engineer for new product development and new product introduction for advanced miniature spectrometer products. <\/span><\/span> <\/span>Our existing customer base spans the traditional areas of portable optical spectroscopy to the newly developed portable mass spec technology.  <\/span>We aim to revolutionize the utility and applications of mass spectrometry in practical sectors of food safety, agriculture, forensics, clinical chemistry, security, defense, pharmaceutical and semiconductor industries.<\/span><\/span>

<\/p>

We are looking for a passionate individual with a background in scientific instrumentation who has transitioned into software engineering. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved with proof -of -concept design, product development, engineering, and production for a new generation of miniaturized  <\/span> <\/span> <\/span>spectrometer instruments.<\/span><\/span> This individual will play a key role in improving and expanding the functionality of our existing software, as well as developing custom AI/ML algorithms for spectral deconvolution and enhancement of detection capabilities for our mass spectrometers.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

Responsibilities:<\/span><\/b>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Improve and expand the functionality of existing software used in our mass spectrometer products.
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Collaborate with a small multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to design and optimize software solutions for <\/span>novel spectrometers including mass spectrometers.
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Software coding/development on controlling and driving instrument systems detector and control electronics.<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Develop and implement custom machine learning algorithms for spectral deconvolution and enhancement of detection capabilities.<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Provide technical support and troubleshooting for software -related issues.<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes.<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Stay up -to -date with the latest advancements in AI/ML and their applications in spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Contribute to the design and architecture of next -generation software platforms and tools.<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Implement user -friendly interfaces and features to enhance the usability of our software.<\/span>

Requirements<\/span><\/b>:
<\/p>

 <\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Bachelor's degree in  <\/span>Physical Sciences and Engineering fields or 2 -4 years software engineering experience with bachelor's degree in, including but not limited to Chemistry, Physics, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, or other Engineering fields; MS or PhD preferred.
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Proven experience in developing algorithms for data analysis and spectral processing.
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Must be a self -starter, critical thinker, and be enthusiastic about new product development, not just knowing software only. Comfortable working in a culturally diverse environment
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Familiar with one or more of the following: basic physics and basic electronics<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Experience with software development best practices, including agile methodologies and version control systems such as Git.<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ability to adapt to a fast -moving company and dynamic work environment.<\/span>
<\/p>

·         <\/span><\/span><\/span>Good communications skills in English, both oral and written for technical documentation and reporting of experimental results. Technical presentation skills a plus.
