Title: Software Engineer II

Location: Menlo Park, CA (Onsite)

Schedule: Full-Time

Employment Time: Contract, 3 Months with possibility for extension based on performance and business needs.

Compensation: $64.13/hr W2

About the Role:

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join a cutting-edge engineering team building large-scale data and infrastructure platforms. This opportunity is ideal for new graduates and early-career software engineers who have already demonstrated exceptional technical ability through internships, research, open-source contributions, competitive programming, or significant software projects. The team is particularly interested in highly accomplished early-career candidates who have built complex systems and shown strong engineering fundamentals.

In this role, youll contribute to production systems that support large-scale data processing, quality validation, discovery, training workflows, and automation. Youll have the opportunity to own meaningful technical projects, work closely with experienced engineers, and participate in the full software development lifecycle from design through deployment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
  • Build systems for ingesting, processing, validating, and serving large-scale datasets.
  • Develop AI-powered and automation workflows that improve productivity and data quality.
  • Improve platform reliability, scalability, observability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Early career candidates encouraged to apply.
  • Internship, research, open-source, or project experience demonstrating strong software engineering abilities.
  • Experience building backend systems, distributed systems, developer tools, infrastructure platforms, or data-intensive applications

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong foundation in:

  • Data Structures

  • Algorithms

  • Databases

  • Software Engineering Fundamentals

  • Debugging & Problem Solving

  • Strong programming experience with:

  • Python

  • SQL

  • At least one statically typed language (Go preferred)

  • Experience developing backend applications and services.

  • Understanding of distributed systems and large-scale data processing.

  • Ability to write reliable, maintainable production code.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with Go (Golang).
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, AWS, or S3.
  • Open-source project contributions.
  • GitHub portfolio demonstrating meaningful technical work.
  • Experience with developer infrastructure, data platforms, or ML platforms.
  • Experience working with AI, LLM, or agentic workflow projects.
  • Competitive internships or experience with high-engineering-bar technology organizations.
  • Systems research, large-scale projects, or applications serving real users.

Bonus Points For:

  • Significant open-source contributions.
  • Backend or infrastructure-focused internship experience.
  • Large-scale personal or academic projects.
  • Demonstrated passion for software engineering outside of coursework.
