Are you ready to join a growing team? CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer II opening for our client. Location: Buffalo, NY Duration: 6 Months Primary Responsibilities: Complete and oversee basic to complex systems analysis, design, development, and implementation activities. Serve as a key individual contributor on complex software development and application enhancement projects. Design, develop, and support enterprise applications using Java 21, Spring Boot 4.0, Microservices architecture, and Oracle databases. Maintain a strong functional and technical understanding of supported applications and related business processes. Direct and monitor less experienced team members and coordinate development tasks across projects of varying size and complexity. Prepare and manage technical project plans, including effort estimates, timelines, and resource requirements. Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, from technical analysis and design through user acceptance testing and deployment. Develop, review, and execute detailed test plans and test cases, including debugging and issue resolution. Evaluate complex relationships among applications, integrations, databases, and platforms to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance. Prepare and maintain technical specifications, systems documentation, process flows, charts, diagrams, and related artifacts. Review technical documentation and deliverables created by less experienced staff. Conduct project assessments, including scope analysis, task identification, effort estimation, and timeline development. Maintain the efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications and services. Recommend and implement new technologies, development methodologies, policies, and processes to improve organizational effectiveness. Participate in evaluations of third-party software, platforms, and vendor solutions. Promote adherence to development standards, coding best practices, security requirements, and established procedures. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand operational needs, strategic objectives, and technology requirements. Support risk management, compliance, audit, and regulatory initiatives. Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned, including due diligence, cost-benefit analysis, and business studies. Scope of Responsibilities: Work under the supervision of the Technology Team Lead while independently managing advanced systems analysis and technical development activities. Lead technical efforts for small- to large-scale projects and provide guidance to project team members. Monitor project progress and team performance to ensure successful delivery of quality solutions within established timelines. Collaborate with senior management, business partners, technology teams, and external vendors. Serve as a technical representative on committees, working groups, and strategic initiatives as required. Provide backup support to leadership and assist with technical decision-making and planning activities. Interact regularly with senior management, technology personnel, clients, and vendors to support business objectives. Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior developers and analysts. Coordinate project assignments and development activities across project teams. Review technical deliverables and provide constructive feedback to support professional development. May lead project teams and oversee technical execution for assigned initiatives. Monitor team performance and project progress to ensure successful outcomes. Education and Experience Required: Associate's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of systems analysis and application development experience; or a combined minimum of seven (7) years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least five (5) years of systems analysis/application development experience. Strong experience with Java 21 and Spring Boot 4.0 development. Experience designing and developing Microservices-based applications. Experience working with Oracle Database technologies. Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms. Proficiency with project management, word processing, spreadsheet, and collaboration tools. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting technical concepts to various audiences. Strong organizational, planning, and time-management capabilities. Detail-oriented with strong critical-thinking and lateral-thinking skills. Experience coordinating efforts between application development teams and business units. Experience recommending, designing, and implementing enterprise system solutions. Proven ability to manage project milestones and delivery schedules. Education and Experience Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Good understanding of banking or enterprise application frameworks. Subject matter expertise within supported business domains and applications. Advanced understanding of integrated enterprise applications and system interoperability. Ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative team environments. Strong multitasking skills with experience supporting multiple complex initiatives. Action-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Advanced system-level knowledge with the ability to contribute to projects beyond normal business-as-usual activities. Experience working within highly regulated industries such as banking or financial services. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
