Software Engineer (Data Processing and Fushion)

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and maintain advanced software for data processing and sensor fusion within the NCST. This role focuses on integrating high-volume data from spacecraft and payload sensors into reliable, actionable information while supporting real-time mission requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Handles the data coming off the sensors
• Works directly with scientists to fuse data across products using their algorithms, including radar and imaging data fusion
• Requires strong general software development skills with a data and image fusion and processing emphasis
• Requires prior data fusion work, a track record of collaborating with scientists, and experience translating science algorithms into production code
• Requires a systems architect skill set and a high degree of technical depth
• Designs and develops software related to instrument control and onboard and ground data processing
• Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements
• Evaluates and applies advanced mathematical methods and algorithms that meet performance requirements
• Provides specific input on hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development
• Provides engineering support to the flight and ground system design and development team to assure system integrity, apply standards, and reuse software components across ground and space systems
• Mitigates risk, controls cost and schedule variance, manages large-scale integrated software projects, and tests software components against design requirements

 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
· Experience developing software for data processing, sensor systems, or complex mission-critical applications
· Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Python, or Java
· Experience working with high-volume or real-time data processing
· Understanding of data fusion, sensor integration, or distributed systems
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer with experience developing high-performance data processing or sensor fusion applications, particularly within aerospace, defense, or other mission-critical environments. Experience with real-time systems and spacecraft or sensor data is highly desirable.
