Join the team responsible for Apples Beta Software Program. Our app, Feedback Assistant, collects user feedback on beta software releases, while our internal tools manage the programs, participants, and configuration data that make that feedback possible - and analyze, group, and route it to Apples engineering teams.
Were looking for a generalist engineer to build and evolve our internal admin tools: content and participant management, permissions, and other applications spanning a broad configuration schema. Youll sit alongside the Program Managers who use these tools every day, giving you a direct line to the people who depend on your work rather than a queue of requests from afar. Youll also be a key contributor to our feedback reading, reporting, and analysis systems, working alongside our ML team as those systems grow to include ML-powered components and asynchronous processing. Were a small team with a big footprint. Our internal tools serve as the operational backbone of Apples beta and feedback programs, and engineers in this role can expect to touch nearly every layer of them - application, API, and database - often within the same week. Youll tackle broad-context challenges, such as:
Because youll be seated with the Engineering Program Managers who rely on these tools day in and day out, youll see firsthand how your work lands, catch friction early, and shape the roadmap alongside the people feeling the pain points - not just the engineering team.
An ideal candidate is energized by variety. You should be excited to pick up whichever stack a project calls for, and just as comfortable reasoning about a SQL schema as building the UI on top of it. Were equally excited by a sharp, ambitious engineer early in their career and by a veteran generalist with breadth across multiple domains.3-5+ years industry experience in software development Technical/Engineering BS or equivalent industry experience Solid, hands-on coding fundamentals across at least one backend and one client/frontend stack Openness to working in Swift and Ruby specifically, regardless of prior depth in either Strong SQL and relational data modeling skills Comfortable and adaptable in a fast-paced and informal environment, able to respond to changing priorities quicklyEnjoys working in close, daily partnership with users Comfortable moving between projects rather than specializing in a single layer - you think of yourself as a software engineer, not strictly backend or frontend Passion for continually learning and exploring new technologies Experience using Claude or other agentic coding tools to prototype, implement, and test Excellent collaborative skills, with strong written and verbal communication
