Software Engineer (C#/.Net OR Java) | Trading Technology

The Opportunity

We're partnering with a leading quantitative trading firm that is continuing to expand its software engineering organization.

The firm is looking for talented Software Engineers to design, build and enhance technology that supports a highly sophisticated trading environment. Engineers work on a range of business-critical systems spanning trading platforms, order management, distributed services, data-intensive applications and operational technology.

This is an engineering-led environment where technology plays a fundamental role in the success of the business. You'll work on complex systems where performance, reliability, scalability and engineering quality matter, while partnering closely with teams across technology, trading and the wider business.

What You'll Be Working On

Depending on your background and experience, your work could include:

• Designing and developing high-performance backend and distributed systems
• Building technology supporting trading, order management and financial workflows
• Developing scalable services using C#/.NET or Java
• Solving complex problems around performance, reliability, concurrency and data
• Building and enhancing business-critical platforms used across the organization
• Working with modern databases, APIs and messaging technologies
• Contributing across the full software development lifecycle, from architecture and design through implementation and production
• Taking ownership of systems and technical projects rather than working in a narrowly defined development function
• Collaborating closely with other engineers and business stakeholders to solve complex real-world problems

What We're Looking For

We're interested in Software Engineers with strong computer science and engineering fundamentals.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• 3-5+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience with C#/.NET and/or Java
• Experience building robust backend, distributed or full-stack applications
• Strong understanding of software design, data structures, algorithms and system architecture
• Experience with SQL and relational databases
• An understanding of scalable, reliable production systems
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• A track record of owning and delivering meaningful software projects

Experience within financial services, trading, hedge funds, investment management or capital markets is particularly valuable, although strong engineers from other technically demanding environments are also encouraged to apply.

Nice to Have

Any of the following would be advantageous:

• C++
• Python
• React, TypeScript or JavaScript
• Distributed systems
• High-throughput or low-latency systems
• Order management or trading systems
• Market data
• Financial markets experience
• Cloud or large-scale infrastructure experience
• Experience working directly with traders or other business stakeholders
