About the Department

The Enterprise Data, Governance & Integration Platforms Engineering team builds and manages foundational data, API, integration, and application platforms that enable scalable, secure, and reliable solutions across the enterprise.

The team develops cloud-native services, APIs, modern applications, and reusable platform capabilities using Azure, AWS, modern software engineering practices, CI/CD automation, and AI-assisted development. We partner with application development, infrastructure, security, data, governance, and AI teams to deliver enterprise-scale platform capabilities and integrations.

How You Will Add Value

Core Responsibilities

• You will develop and maintain modern web applications using React.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• You will design, develop, test, and maintain scalable APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• You will develop and manage APIs using Azure API Management (APIM) and follow enterprise API lifecycle and governance standards.
• You will build integrations across enterprise applications, third-party systems, and cloud platforms.
• You will support hybrid-cloud solutions spanning Azure and AWS.
• You will implement API security using technologies and standards such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, and mTLS.
• You will develop containerized services using Docker and support cloud-native deployment patterns.
• You will build and maintain automated deployment pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
• You will implement automated testing, monitoring, logging, and observability to improve application reliability.
• You will troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to continuous platform improvements.
• You will use AI-assisted development tools and coding agents to improve development, testing, debugging, and documentation productivity.
• You will collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, security teams, application teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• You will communicate and present technical designs, architecture decisions, platform capabilities, and implementation approaches clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You will participate actively in design reviews, technical discussions, demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in API development, backend engineering, integration, or cloud-native applications.
• Strong development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs and understanding API lifecycle concepts.
• Experience with Azure API Management (APIM) or comparable API gateway/management technologies.
• Experience with Azure and/or AWS and cloud-native application development.
• Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
• Understanding of API security concepts including OAuth 2.0, JWT, API keys, authentication, authorization, and mTLS.
• Experience integrating applications and services across distributed environments.
• Strong software engineering, troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong presentation skills, including the ability to present technical designs, solutions, demos, and recommendations to engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder collaboration skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively across engineering, architecture, security, business, and other cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with React.js and modern front-end development, including JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Hands-on experience with Azure API Management, including policies, gateways, and API security.
• Experience working across both Azure and AWS environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging, or real-time integration patterns.
• Exposure to GraphQL, gRPC, or AsyncAPI.
• Familiarity with Python.
• Experience with API monitoring and observability platforms.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants, coding agents, Agentic AI, or MCP concepts.
• Azure and/or AWS certifications are a plus.

Work Schedule & Location

This role will work a hybrid schedule three days per week in our Franklin Templeton location, Baltimore.
