Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a technology organization supporting a nationally significant and fast-paced program, for a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing agile team. This program injects new technology and advanced capabilities into an ongoing operational system, following DevOps best practices with robust development, test, and production environments, and executes work using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology alongside Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and test automation tooling.
Day to day, you will move between individual coding work and close collaboration with your agile team, participating in program increment planning and related ceremonies while analyzing complex system requirements and translating them into modifiable, efficient, reliable, and reusable code. You will thrive in this role if you enjoy engineering automation scripts end to end, from development through deployment to the test and production bench, and if you take pride in writing well-documented, fault-tolerant software that other developers and testers can build on.
Responsibilities
- Complete software development tasks both individually and as a member of an agile team
- Actively participate in program increment planning and related agile team activities
- Analyze and study complex system requirements using design software tools
- Provide support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques
- Use Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools to support the development process
- Apply sound software engineering principles to ensure code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, fault-tolerant, and reusable
- Provide software process management and control throughout the coding portion of development
- Promote code reuse and cross-program collaboration by creating common functions and shared actions for developers and testers
- Engineer, author, tune, and document automation scripts in a development environment
- Deploy automation scripts and code to the test and production bench
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience with Java required
- Experience or familiarity with several of the following: Java/JEE, Python, C/C++, SQL, SOAP, WSDL, WADL, PERL, PowerShell, VBS, Eclipse, Postgres, Oracle, Jenkins on a Windows platform
- Experience with User Interface development and knowledge of databases and structures, including XHTML, HTML, XML, or XSLT
- Experience developing on Windows and/or Linux operating systems
- Strong understanding of sound software development principles and practices
- Ability to plan and prioritize personal tasking and communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Independent thinker capable of high quality work both individually and as part of a fast-moving team
