Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior AI/ML Engineer for an innovative and rapidly growing healthcare services organization focused on modernizing its technology platform through data, AI, and automation. This is an onsite opportunity located in Addison, TX.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Our partner is building the foundation for enterprise AI and is seeking a hands-on Senior AI/ML Engineer to help shape that journey from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex business problems, evaluating where AI delivers the greatest value, and designing production-ready AI solutions in a highly regulated environment. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a consultative mindset and is excited to help define the organization's AI roadmap while remaining hands-on in development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, build, deploy, and support production AI and machine learning solutions, including LLM applications, traditional ML models, and future agentic AI capabilities.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to evaluate opportunities, determine when AI is the right solution, and help prioritize enterprise AI initiatives based on business value.
  • Own the end-to-end AI lifecycle, including data preparation, model selection, prompt engineering, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop secure, scalable AI architectures utilizing technologies such as RAG, vector databases, model gateways, APIs, and cloud-native services while meeting HIPAA and SOC 2 requirements.
  • Build evaluation frameworks, safety guardrails, observability, and MLOps processes to ensure reliable, production-ready AI systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Security, and business teams to establish AI best practices and contribute to the organization's long-term AI strategy and technical roadmap.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional Python software engineering experience, including 2+ years building and deploying production AI, machine learning, or LLM-based applications.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major LLM platform, such as Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or AWS Bedrock, along with frameworks including LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar orchestration tools.
  • Strong experience with prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), model evaluation, fine-tuning concepts, vector databases, AI observability, and production deployment.
  • Experience deploying AI workloads in cloud environments (Azure preferred) using modern MLOps practices and tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Weights & Biases, or comparable technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous, greenfield environments, translating business needs into practical AI solutions while helping define technical direction and long-term architecture.
  • Experience building secure applications in regulated environments is strongly preferred, including familiarity with HIPAA technical safeguards, data governance, and enterprise security practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $145,000 to $160,000 (DOE) along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings options.
