Wyetech is seeking a Software Engineer 2 (SWE2) to join a small, dynamic development team supporting the COUNTERPUNCH mission. This position is ideal for a strong Full Stack Developer with significant Front End development experience, particularly with ReactJS, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
The Software Engineer will develop, maintain, and optimize mission-focused web applications and user interfaces while working closely with team members, mission customers, end users, and Government leadership in an Agile environment. The successful candidate will translate requirements, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes into responsive, scalable, accessible, and user-friendly applications.
Required Skills/Experience:
• Strong Full Stack development experience with an emphasis on Front End technologies.
• Strong UI development experience using ReactJS, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Strong experience developing and maintaining scalable server-side applications and microservices using Node.js and Express.js.
• Experience designing and implementing high-performance web-based graph visualization interfaces capable of rendering and interacting with large-scale datasets consisting of thousands of nodes and edges while maintaining responsiveness and usability.
• Experience with automated JavaScript testing and code-quality frameworks, including ESLint and Jest.
• Experience gathering user needs, requirements, and feedback and translating wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user stories into clean, reusable, and scalable Front End code.
• Proven ability to design, implement, and consume well-structured, secure, and documented RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with GitLab for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and project management.
• Knowledge and implementation experience with Section 508/WCAG accessibility standards.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React, REST services, Docker containers, and orchestration technologies including Kubernetes (CK8S) and Helm.
• Proven ability to work independently as part of a small development team, take ownership of assigned tasks, manage development timelines, and proactively solve problems with minimal supervision.
• Experience working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with senior leadership, mission stakeholders, and end users to gather requirements and provide tailored technical and project updates.
• Experience delivering high-impact product demonstrations to application users and leadership.
• Ability to author accurate and concise project updates.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and optimize user interfaces using Node.js, ReactJS, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Create and maintain user-friendly web applications that meet mission requirements.
• Translate wireframes, mockups, prototypes, user stories, and customer requirements into functional, responsive, scalable, and reusable user interfaces.
• Collaborate directly with mission customers and Government leadership to capture requirements and recommend product enhancements that improve application functionality and mission effectiveness.
• Ensure UI design remains consistent with established design principles.
• Utilize UI libraries, frameworks, and reusable components to streamline development and improve maintainability.
• Perform application testing using organization-approved browsers to ensure a consistent and seamless user experience.
• Debug and troubleshoot UI and application issues.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve application performance and the overall user experience.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in UI and Full Stack development.
• Participate in code reviews and provide and receive constructive feedback to maintain high-quality code.
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
• Confer with analysts, Systems Engineers, and Software Engineers to derive software requirements and understand project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
• Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, system flows, data usage, work processes, and problem areas.
• Develop and implement algorithms that meet or exceed system performance and functional standards, including strict timing, resource, and interface constraints.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using appropriate analytical methods to evaluate design outcomes and consequences.
• Debug existing software and correct defects.
• Design and code new software and modify existing software to add functionality.
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
• Write and review software and system documentation.
• Recommend and implement improvements to documentation and software-development process standards.
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Perform quality control on team products.
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.
• Serve as a team lead when appropriate to the software-development process and project requirements.
• Oversee software-development activities as required and ensure work is completed within established development-process constraints.
Desired Skills/Experience:
• Scrum Lead experience and certification.
• Familiarity with Node.js and ReactJS packages including Babel, nwsapi, Winston, Graphology, AG Grid, and Sigma.
Education & LCAT Qualifications:
• Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Four (4) years of additional Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
Work Location:
• Contractor Facility – Annapolis Junction, Maryland
• Position requires both low-side and high-side access.
Clearance Requirements:
• TS/SCI with MPO
• Client-level polygraph

Salary Range: $64.04 - $120.27 USD Hourly
Hourly pay rates listed for this position serve as a general guideline and are not a guarantee of compensation.
