APIs are the foundation of our connected, digital world. Azure API Management enables companies building APIs to publish, describe, secure, manage, and monitor their APIs so they can focus on delivering the functionality developers need while we provide the underlying infrastructure.

We're looking for a Software Engineer 2 - CoreAI who wants to work on a rapidly growing service that is deeply connected to its customers and help grow the product across serverless, hybrid, and Kubernetes environments. You will contribute to building scalable, secure, and reliable platform infrastructure that powers AI capabilities, including the AI gateway.

You'll have the opportunity to build features that can be immediately deployed and validated, while contributing to the testing, support, and diagnosis of live systems. We're looking for an engineer to drive a critical area within API Management-someone who can independently produce high-quality solutions while contributing to and benefiting from a collaborative, dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work on highly scalable and reliable service infrastructure.

  • Contribute to a variety of service features, including our proxy engine, management APIs, data analytics, and deployment infrastructure.

  • Build foundational platform infrastructure that supports secure and scalable AI capabilities and AI gateway workloads.

  • Adopt AI-first development practices and work with the latest cloud technologies.

  • Enable container-based deployments.

  • Build an intuitive API development experience in Azure, backed by containers, virtual machines, Azure Functions, or the customer's backend of choice.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of software development and design experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Math, Engineering or related field, or equivalent field experience
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++, C#,  JavaScript

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
