    Software Engineer (Java / Full Stack)

    Location: Dearborn, MI
    Work Model: Hybrid (4 days onsite per week)
    Employment Type: Contract (364-day assignment)
    Start Date: October 1, 2026

    Overview

    Epitec is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join a high-impact team focused on developing innovative software solutions that support advanced power management, controls, and optimization technologies. This role is ideal for a strong full-stack engineer who thrives in Agile environments and enjoys building scalable, high-quality applications from concept through deployment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise software applications.
    • Create high-level software architecture and technical solution designs.
    • Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, and back-end services.
    • Build responsive, user-friendly web interfaces using modern front-end frameworks.
    • Collaborate with product owners, architects, designers, and cross-functional teams.
    • Implement Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration (CI), and Continuous Deployment (CD) practices.
    • Optimize application performance and continuously improve code quality through refactoring and best practices.
    • Support software security initiatives, including data protection and encryption practices.
    • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to improve development efficiency and solution capabilities.
    • Engage directly with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver customer-focused solutions.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
    • 6+ years of overall IT experience.
    • 4+ years of professional software development experience.
    • 4+ years of experience developing web applications using object-oriented programming principles.
    • Strong experience with:
      • Java
      • Spring Boot
      • Spring MVC
      • Spring Cloud
      • Spring JDBC
      • REST APIs and Microservices
      • PostgreSQL
      • Angular, React, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript
    • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, and TDD.
    • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
    • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Jasmine, Karma, or similar.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of projects and drive tasks to completion.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
    • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
    • Knowledge of SOAP, WSDL, XML, and SOA-based integrations.
    • Experience with Pair Programming and Extreme Programming (XP) practices.
