    Description

We are looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the engineering team building Prime Video Advertising"s premium ad products. Prime Video Advertising reaches 315MM+ monthly viewers across 20 countries and is on a path from $5.3B in 2026 to an aspirational $10B by 2029, with premium products among the fastest-scaling parts of that business. This is a builder-and-leader role at the intersection of high growth and hard technical problems: you will own the multi-year technical strategy for the portfolio, grow and develop a team of senior engineers, and be accountable for delivering enterprise-scale ad-serving capabilities in a fast-moving, ambiguous space. You will set direction across partner teams spanning Prime Video, Publishers Technology, PAS, and ADSP, and turn today"s manual, managed-service setup into self-service experiences that reach thousands of advertisers. If you want outsized impact on a rapidly expanding business, come help us work hard, have fun, and make history.

    Key job responsibilities

Own the technical vision, multi-year roadmap, and delivery for Prime Video"s premium ad products - Sponsorships, FITO, and Streamweaver - across two or more annual planning cycles.

Lead the engineering strategy to make Sponsorship a first-class citizen in Publishers Technology"s deal model, replacing behaviors scattered across IMS CBP templates, PubTech Rules, and bespoke systems with native, runtime-enforced ad-serving logic.

Drive the architecture for Streamweaver"s expansion beyond Prime Video to FAST, Live Sports, Fire TV, Twitch, and Stores - including cross-publisher session awareness, roadblocking coordination, and the deal model that unifies the buy.

Resolve the platform gaps blocking scale: self-service campaign activation in ADSP, removal of the collection-slot ceiling that constrains title targeting, and a real-time inventory/calendaring backend that prevents overbooking at the point of purchase.

Set and hold a high engineering bar - system design, operational excellence, on-call health, and quality - for enterprise systems that serve premium ad experiences globally.

Grow, coach, and develop a team of senior software engineers; hire to close capability gaps; and create a culture of ownership, rapid experimentation, and measurable customer impact.

Build relationships and earn trust with partner teams (Prime Video, PubTech, PAS, ADSP, FAA/Forecasting, Ads Trust) and represent the team"s strategy to senior leadership in planning, reviews, and escalations.

Reduce operational load structurally - turn recurring on-call and setup toil into platform automation rather than perpetual manual work.

    A day in the life

No two days are the same, but most balance people leadership, technical direction, and cross-team execution. You coach engineers in 1:1s, push for simple, flexible designs in reviews, and keep sprints focused on what matters. You partner with product and partner-team leaders to turn ambiguous needs into clear roadmaps, and you clear the dependencies and escalations only you can. You go deep where it counts - a design, a build-vs-reuse tradeoff, an operational issue - while keeping the multi-quarter picture in view. On any given day one workstream (Streamweaver, for example) might need a launch-readiness call while another needs a partner team unblocked. Throughout, you balance shipping reliably today with building for the years ahead, and invest in the mechanisms and culture that let the team move fast without you in the critical path.

    About the team

We are the Amazon Prime Video Ads Engineering team within APM Prime Video Advertising. We build the premium ad products - Sponsorships, First Impression Takeover (FITO), and Streamweaver, our cross-Amazon storytelling platform - that let a single advertiser tell one coordinated brand story across Prime Video, Fire TV, Twitch, and Stores, and that generate roughly 1.5x more revenue per ad hour than standard video ads. Our charter is scaling that impact: extending storytelling to new surfaces, opening self-service and automated creative workflows, and making Sponsorship a native, first-class capability in the Publishers Technology stack. It"s a rare chance to own a premium product line with a real shot at becoming one of the largest ad businesses in streaming.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
