About Us:

Twitch is the world's biggest live streaming service, with global communities built around gaming, entertainment, music, sports, cooking, and more. It is where thousands of communities come together for whatever, every day.

We're about community, inside and out. You'll find coworkers who are eager to team up, collaborate, and smash (or elegantly solve) problems together. We're on a quest to empower live communities, so if this sounds good to you, see what we're up to on LinkedIn and X, and discover the projects we're solving on our Blog. Be sure to explore our Interviewing Guide to learn how to ace our interview process.

About the Role

We are looking for an engineering manager to lead our Payments team, the system through which every dollar on Twitch flows. Your team builds the purchase experiences that millions of viewers use daily and the payment infrastructure that enables 7+ million creators to earn a living doing what they love.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will own real technical problems: orchestrating payments across multiple third-party vendors, maintaining sub-second response times at global scale, modernizing legacy systems while keeping the lights on, and ensuring every transaction is accurate down to the penny. You"ll lead a team of ~5-7 engineers, many of them senior, and you"ll be expected to go deep on architecture decisions alongside them.

What makes this role unique is its position at the center of Twitch's business. Payments touch every monetization product. You"ll collaborate daily with product, data science, fraud prevention, compliance, and finance teams. You"ll have real influence on Twitch"s revenue trajectory and direct visibility to senior leadership.

This is also a strong growth role. You"ll report to a senior level engineering leader, gain exposure to cross-organizational strategy, and have the opportunity to expand your scope as the team and business grow.

You Will

  • Lead a team of engineers to design, build, and operate full-stack web applications that process millions of transactions daily
  • Own your team"s delivery end-to-end: roadmap planning, execution, and operational excellence
  • Grow senior engineers in their careers: coach, challenge, and create opportunities for promotion
  • Make hands-on architectural decisions: you"ll be in design reviews, weighing tradeoffs on vendor integrations, system resilience, and data accuracy
  • Partner cross-functionally with product, finance, and compliance to shape what we build and why
  • Navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities while keeping your team focused and energized

Perks

  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Maternity & Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO
  • Amazon Employee Discount

About the Company

A

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
