    Schwab''s Enterprise Delivery Enablement organization is seeking a senior Software Development & Engineering Lead to help drive modernization of the engineering ecosystem that supports software engineers across the firm. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, cloud transformation, enterprise integrations, DevOps, and developer productivity.

    The successful candidate will help shape and implement the next generation of engineering platforms and services supporting strategic initiatives including cloud adoption, enterprise-scale migrations, SDLC modernization, automation, and AI-enabled engineering practices. This is a highly visible technical leadership role that requires a strong engineering foundation, a passion for solving complex enterprise challenges, and the ability to influence technical direction across globally distributed teams.

    The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong collaboration skills and thrives in environments that balance modernization efforts with operational excellence.

    • Design, build, and support enterprise platforms, services, and integrations that enable software delivery across Schwab.
    • Lead technical execution of strategic modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, migration programs, and engineering platform evolution.
    • Design and implement scalable APIs, integration patterns, and automation solutions that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.
    • Partner with product owners, architects, platform teams, and engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps and deliver business value.
    • Drive engineering best practices in software development, observability, security, reliability, testing, and DevOps.
    • Contribute hands-on development, scripting, troubleshooting, and technical leadership across critical initiatives.
    • Support production systems and participate in root-cause analysis, resiliency improvements, and operational excellence initiatives.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development capabilities, and identify opportunities to improve delivery effectiveness.
    • Mentor engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and innovation.
    • Collaborate effectively across U.S. and India-based teams to execute complex, cross-functional initiatives.

    What you have

    Required qualifications:

    • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
    • 8+ years of software engineering experience building and supporting enterprise applications.
    • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing APIs, distributed systems, integrations, or microservice-based architectures.
    • Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or similar backend technologies.
    • Strong proficiency in scripting languages for Linux and/or Windows servers (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
    • Experience designing and supporting enterprise application integrations and service-oriented architectures.
    • Experience participating in large-scale technology transformation or migration initiatives.
    • Strong understanding of RESTful API design, integration patterns, authentication, authorization, and application security principles.
    • Experience with automation, CI/CD, source control, and DevOps practices.
    • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience leading or contributing to enterprise cloud migration programs.
    • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
    • Jira Cloud administration, configuration, or migration experience.
    • Experience with Atlassian ecosystem products and enterprise SDLC tooling.
    • Experience with Linux/Unix administration and infrastructure operations.
    • Experience building platform automation through scripting and API-driven integrations.
    • Experience with observability, monitoring, and production support practices.
    • Knowledge of modern API technologies.
    • Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and engineering productivity platforms.
    • Experience within financial services or other highly regulated environments.
    • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
