We are seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join a highly collaborative product engineering team building and enhancing modern, transaction-intensive software platforms.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on test automation, quality engineering, and software reliability. The SDET will continuously evaluate existing automated test coverage, identify gaps and risks, and develop scalable testing solutions that increase confidence throughout the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate brings a strong software engineering mindset to quality assurance and is comfortable writing code, building automation frameworks, investigating complex application behavior, and partnering directly with software engineers and product teams.
Design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions for modern web applications and services.
Build and enhance reusable test automation frameworks using technologies such as Playwright, Jest, JavaScript, and related tools.
Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate test creation, analyze application behavior, troubleshoot failures, and improve overall test coverage.
Continuously evaluate existing automated test coverage and identify areas where additional testing is needed.
Partner closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and UX professionals to understand application functionality, requirements, and potential areas of risk.
Develop comprehensive test strategies and test plans for new features, enhancements, integrations, and system changes.
Think creatively about how applications can fail and design tests that meaningfully challenge system functionality, performance, reliability, and security.
Develop automated testing across application layers, including user interfaces, APIs, microservices, integrations, and backend systems.
Establish and monitor quality metrics, including automated test coverage, code coverage, defect trends, and other indicators of application health.
Review automated test results, investigate failures, reproduce defects, identify root causes, and verify fixes.
Partner with development teams to identify issues that could affect application performance, scalability, or system stability.
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to provide rapid feedback throughout the development and deployment lifecycle.
Contribute to release readiness decisions and provide quality approval prior to production deployments.
Help establish and continuously improve engineering standards, testing practices, tooling, and automation strategy.
3+ years of experience in software test automation, SDET, quality engineering, or software development.
Demonstrated experience designing or developing automated test frameworks rather than solely executing existing test scripts.
Strong programming or scripting experience with JavaScript/TypeScript or similar languages.
Hands-on experience with modern automation technologies such as Playwright, Jest, or comparable testing frameworks.
Experience testing applications built using microservices and/or service-oriented architectures.
Strong understanding of APIs, distributed applications, and modern software architecture.
Experience working within Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery/Deployment, and DevOps environments.
Familiarity with technologies such as Jenkins, SQL, Bash, Unix/Linux, or comparable tools.
Ability to investigate complex software behavior and determine the root cause of automated test failures.
Strong understanding of software development and testing methodologies.
Previous professional experience as a Software Developer or Software Engineer is highly desirable.
Experience with security testing, penetration testing concepts, vulnerability testing, or application security is a plus.
Experience testing financial, transactional, e-commerce, payroll, or other high-volume business applications is preferred.
Experience incorporating AI-assisted engineering tools into development or testing workflows is a plus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and business teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
Equivalent professional software engineering or test automation experience will also be considered.
