A leading financial technology organization is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to support the quality and performance of its mission-critical trading and analytics platforms. This individual will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and accuracy of systems used in fast-moving, data-intensive environments.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automated testing frameworks covering application functionality, system integrations, and core business workflows.
- Validate pricing, valuation, and performance calculations across complex financial products and trading strategies.
- Develop testing approaches for AI and machine learning solutions, including model validation, regression testing, output verification, and performance monitoring.
- Build automated evaluation tools for internal AI-powered applications and workflow automation initiatives.
- Create realistic simulation environments to test platform behavior during periods of heavy system activity, market volatility, and unusual event-driven scenarios.
- Verify connectivity and message flows between trading platforms, execution systems, market gateways, and third-party integrations.
- Partner closely with software engineers, quantitative teams, and business stakeholders to define test coverage and ensure platform accuracy.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in Software Development Engineering in Test (SDET), Quality Engineering, or Test Automation.
- Prior experience supporting financial technology, capital markets, trading platforms, or other highly transactional systems.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++.
- Experience testing distributed, event-driven, or real-time applications.
- Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks such as PyTest, JUnit, TestNG, or similar tools.
- Understanding of automated API, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with messaging technologies, streaming platforms, or low-latency systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to derivatives, options, risk management systems, or financial analytics.
- Experience validating AI/ML models or data-driven applications.
- Knowledge of trading workflows, order management systems, or electronic execution environments.
- Experience working in highly available, performance-sensitive production environments.
