    Description

Build the AI-powered enablement experiences that help AWS field teams learn, practice, and engage customers with the right content at the right time. As an SDE II on AFX Enablement Technology, you will own backend and full-stack work across AI coaching and learning, content enablement and governance, and external customer engagement.

    • Work on an AI learning, engagement, and coaching platform with real users across the AWS field.
    • Build content enablement and governance capabilities: how field teams create, manage, find, and reuse trusted content at scale.
    • Help power external customer engagement, delivering enablement content and experiences beyond internal field teams to customers.
    • Ship in a fast-paced, AI-first development process, using tools like Kiro and Amazon Quick to accelerate design, coding, and delivery.
    • Apply GenAI, voice, and agentic patterns to real problems: conversational coaching, dynamic scenario generation, assessment, search, and content reuse.
    • Own services end to end on AWS-native infrastructure, with the autonomy to design, build, and operate what you ship.
    • Build a unified, well-governed platform through clean APIs and shared services.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Design and implement scalable, reliable backend services and APIs using AWS-native technologies (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, Step Functions).
    • Build full-stack experiences spanning backend services and modern web and voice front ends.
    • Build AI learning, coaching, and assessment capabilities: conversational and voice coaching, dynamic scenario generation, programs, and a unified model of the seller.
    • Integrate enablement capabilities into one seller experience through clean APIs and shared services.
    • Apply agentic and GenAI patterns (retrieval, embeddings, orchestration, tool and agent integration) to content generation, search, de-duplication, and summarization.
    • Work in a fast-paced, AI-first development process, using tools like Kiro and Amazon Quick to accelerate design, implementation, and delivery.
    • Own operational excellence for your services: monitoring, alarming, on-call participation, and continuous improvement of availability, latency, and cost.
    • Write high-quality, well-tested, maintainable code, participate in design and code reviews, and mentor junior engineers.

    A day in the life

You start the day picking up a capability you own: a scenario-generation service for the AI coach, or an API that plugs an enablement capability into the seller experience. You pair with a product manager to sharpen requirements, then use AI-first tooling like Kiro and Amazon Quick to move from design to working code. By midday you are in a design review, discussing shared-service integration and how to preserve assessment rigor. In the afternoon you ship to production, check dashboards, and tune latency and cost. Your customers are AWS sellers and field teams; your stakeholders are product, design, and partner teams across AFX.

    About the team

AWS Field Experiences (AFX) builds the products and platforms that power how AWS sales and field teams learn, plan, engage customers, and act on the right guidance at the right time. Within AFX, the Enablement Technology team owns the platforms that help field teams learn, create, manage, and distribute content and guidance at scale. Our culture is ownership-first and builder-friendly. We invest heavily in agentic and GenAI-powered experiences, with an AI learning, engagement, and coaching platform at the center: a single seller experience that brings learning, assessment, and coaching together around natural conversation. We work in an AI-first way and expect new engineers to help define what that looks like.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
