Location: Menands, NY (100% Onsite)
Contract Duration: August 31, 2026 – July 31, 2027 (11 Months)

Our Client is seeking one (1) Software Developer Level 2 to support the modernization of the Health Electronic Response Data System (HERDS). The selected consultant will develop, maintain, enhance, and integrate enterprise applications that improve statewide health data exchange while ensuring application performance, security, and reliability.
Must-Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or equivalent
• Minimum 4 years of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience
• Minimum 4 years of Java development experience
• Minimum 4 years of Spring Boot experience
• Minimum 4 years of Java EE (Servlet, JPA, etc.) experience
• Minimum 4 years of Oracle SQL and/or PostgreSQL experience
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must be willing to work onsite in Menands, NY
• Willing to relocate if outside commuting distance

Key Responsibilities

• Support modernization of the Health Electronic Response Data System (HERDS).
• Develop enterprise Java applications and system enhancements.
• Integrate HERDS data with other NYSDOH applications.
• Maintain application performance and reliability.
• Design and document technical solutions.
• Develop program code following enterprise standards.
• Create and execute unit test plans.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects.
• Review business requirements and convert them into technical solutions.
• Develop technical documentation.
• Support application security assessments.
• Estimate development effort for assigned work.
• Participate in release management and deployment activities.
• Coordinate releases with infrastructure teams.
• Provide technical support for production applications.
• Develop reports and application enhancements as requested.
