    Key job responsibilities

You solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.

You work with your team to invent, design and build software that is stable and performant.

You are proficient in a broad range of design approaches and know when it is appropriate to use them (and when it is not). Your solutions are pragmatic.

You consider the legacy of the code you produce and write code that an SDE unfamiliar with the system can understand.

You limit the use of short-term workarounds. You do things with the proper level of complexity the first time (or at least minimize incidental complexity).

You create flexible software without over-engineering. You make appropriate trade-offs, re-use where possible, and are judicious about introducing dependencies.

You are efficient with resource usage (e.g., system hardware, database, memory/CPU, etc.)

You work on project ideas with customers, stakeholders, and peers

    A day in the life

    4) Interacting with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and translating them into technical solutions.

    5) Mentoring team members (SDE1), providing guidance, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

    6) Regularly reviewing and optimising existing systems and processes for better efficiency and performance.

    About the team

The CSTRAC team is the authoritative source for answering the question: "Where is my stuff?" to the customer. We empower customers to control where and when they receive their package even as their package is in flight. CSTRAC is product-driven. We own the customer-facing Package Tracking page as well as its backend services. As the majority owner of the tracking experience product vertical, CSTRAC streamlines front-end and back-end development to deliver results with a significant reduction in time-to-market. Our SDEs focus on providing a state-of-the-art, extensible, and modular service architecture that allows our FEEs to consume current and consistent tracking data. Our FEEs leverage the backend systems to craft engaging user experiences that spark customer delight.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
