These services will include parent training/support through groups and in the home, family education, family counseling and the full array of Early Childhood Intervention social work services. Travels in the assigned area of catchment to deliver services. Travels (as approved by the Program Administrator) outside of the cathment for staff development. Major Duties:Participates in the assessment process for children referred for services due to delayed and /or atypical social emotional behaviors.Participates in IFSP meetings for children exhibiting atypical social-emotional behavior for sharing essential assessment information and assisting with IFSP development.Prepares written recommendations for children with diagnosed atypical behaviors and their families to be shared with parent and/or primary caregivers, appropriate staff and related personnel.Collaborates on an ongoing basis with teachers, case managers, parents and other identified team members regarding the social-emotional status and program concerns of children identified as behavior disordered.Coordinates and serves as facilitator for ECI parent groups.Serves as a primary and secondary service coordinator (case manager) for all children assigned to their caseload including children with behaviors concerns and/or families with dysfunctional practices and patterns of parenting.Completes daily sheets, mileage logs and meets timelines for documentation as required.Participates in interagency program planning efforts as requested by Director. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of "state-of-the-art" social work practices used to help families of children (0 3) who are developmentally delayed.Knowledge regarding the impact of social-emotional conditions on child growth and development.Background in working with parents/families of children whose parenting skills are limited, inappropriate and/or dysfunctional.Understanding of the IFSP process.Knowledge of methods for assessment child personal-social needs.Insight into the availability of social services and resources for the children and families (SSI/CIDC/Medicaid/StarCare/etc.).Strong, sensitive communication skills (written and verbal).Ability to work harmoniously in team settings and with other staff.Knowledge of general community health policies.Knowledge of assistive technology used to improve the child's quality of life.Ability to help staff understand the impact of social delays/voids in the life of a child and family and effective strategies for environmental enrichment.
