Position Summary Information
Job Summary
This position requires creativity, strong visual storytelling skills, sound judgment, an understanding
of social media culture and the ability to produce high-quality content under short deadlines. The
Social Media Marketing Specialist develops engaging, timely and platform-specific content that
strengthens Texas Southmost College's brand, tells the College's story and connects with
prospective students, current students, employees, alumni and the community. The position
manages the College's official social media presence and creates original short-form videos,
photographs, graphics, captions and other digital content. The Social Media Marketing Specialist
identifies compelling campus stories, covers college events, monitors emerging trends and uses
performance data to improve content and audience engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages, monitors and regularly updates the College's official social media accounts, including
Athletics, Student Life, and Texas Southmost College Facebook and Instagram, LinkedIn,
YouTube, X and other emerging platforms.
retention, student engagement, community relations and institutional priorities.
YouTube Shorts, interviews, student features, event recaps and behind-the-scenes content.
interviews, live updates and same-day content production.
equipment to capture professional-quality photographs, video and audio.
digital channels.
supporting visual content using approved College templates and brand standards.
conversations that may be appropriately incorporated into the College's content strategy.
