Description

Social Media Manager

Make the Strategy. Read the Data. Shape the Conversation.

Fleet Farm is looking for a strategic, creative, and highly analytical Social Media Manager to lead the social presence of one of the Midwest’s most recognized retail brands.

This role goes beyond publishing content and keeping a social calendar moving. We’re looking for someone who understands why content performs, how social media supports broader business objectives, and how data can be used to continuously improve strategy.

You’ll own Fleet Farm’s organic social media strategy while partnering closely with Creative, Production, Merchandising, Marketing, Media, Human Resources, and agency partners. From major seasonal campaigns and product launches to emerging trends and real-time opportunities, you’ll help determine how Fleet Farm shows up across social channels—and measure whether it’s working.

This is an individual contributor role with significant strategic ownership and cross-functional influence. Our environment moves quickly, so the ability to prioritize, adapt, make decisions, and keep multiple initiatives moving at once is essential.

If you’re equally comfortable developing a social strategy, digging into performance data, collaborating with creative teams, and reacting quickly to what’s happening in the social landscape, we’d like to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

Own the Social Media Strategy

  • Develop and execute an integrated social media strategy aligned with Fleet Farm’s marketing priorities, seasonal campaigns, promotions, product launches, and business objectives.
  • Build and manage a multi-platform content calendar that balances planned campaigns with timely and emerging opportunities.
  • Use audience behavior, platform trends, competitive insights, and performance data to determine what content we create, where we publish it, and how frequently we engage.
  • Identify opportunities to grow brand awareness, engagement, traffic, and customer loyalty.
  • Stay ahead of evolving social platforms, algorithms, trends, and consumer behaviors and translate those changes into actionable recommendations.

Turn Analytics Into Action

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just report social metrics—you should be able to explain what the data means and what we should do next.

  • Monitor and analyze engagement, reach, impressions, follower growth, website traffic, video performance, conversions, and other key performance indicators.
  • Evaluate campaign and content performance to identify what is—and isn’t—resonating with our audiences.
  • Translate analytics into clear recommendations that improve future content, campaigns, publishing strategies, and creative direction.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking and social listening to identify emerging trends, customer insights, and opportunities.
  • Develop performance reporting that connects social media activity to broader marketing and business objectives.

Lead Content Planning & Creative Direction

  • Develop creative briefs that clearly define objectives, target audiences, messaging, deliverables, and success measures.
  • Partner with Creative, Video Production, Merchandising, and Marketing teams to bring social-first ideas to life.
  • Provide strategic direction and feedback on creative concepts.
  • Review content for brand consistency, relevance, quality, and campaign alignment.
  • Manage multiple projects from concept through publication while maintaining deadlines in a fast-paced retail environment.

Manage Fleet Farm’s Social Presence

  • Schedule, publish, test, and optimize content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms.
  • Utilize Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, and platform-native tools to manage publishing and performance.
  • Optimize publishing cadence and content mix based on audience insights and performance.
  • Lead Fleet Farm’s LinkedIn strategy, including company culture, recruiting initiatives, community involvement, and corporate news.

Build & Engage Our Community

  • Monitor conversations, comments, reviews, and direct messages across social platforms.
  • Engage customers in a timely, authentic, and brand-appropriate way.
  • Identify and escalate customer concerns when appropriate.
  • Use social listening to identify customer sentiment, recurring themes, and opportunities to strengthen the Fleet Farm brand.

Support Influencer, Creator & Paid Social Strategy

  • Partner with agency teams to identify and manage influencers and creators who authentically align with the Fleet Farm brand.
  • Support influencer campaigns and user-generated content initiatives from planning through performance evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Paid Media and agency partners to ensure organic and paid social strategies complement one another.
  • Provide recommendations for paid social creative, messaging, boosted content, and campaign opportunities.

Collaborate Across the Business

Retail moves fast—and so do we.

  • Partner across Marketing, Merchandising, Creative, Production, Media, Human Resources, and external agencies to execute integrated campaigns.
  • Manage competing priorities and shifting deadlines while maintaining quality and strategic focus.
  • Communicate recommendations clearly and confidently to cross-functional partners.
  • Serve as an internal resource on social media best practices, emerging trends, and platform opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • 2–4 years of professional social media experience supporting a consumer-facing brand, retailer, lifestyle brand, or marketing agency.
  • Demonstrated experience developing social media strategy—not simply executing or publishing content.
  • Strong experience using social media analytics to evaluate performance and make strategic recommendations.
  • Experience developing and managing multi-platform content calendars.
  • Experience with social media management platforms such as Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Sprinklr, Buffer, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Meta Business Suite and social advertising platforms.
  • Strong understanding of platform algorithms, audience behavior, social trends, content strategy, and community engagement.
  • Experience developing creative briefs and partnering with creative teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, project management, and analytical skills.

We'd Especially Like to Meet You If You Have

  • Experience working in retail, e-commerce, outdoor, sporting goods, farm & ranch, lifestyle, or another fast-moving consumer environment.
  • Experience supporting promotional calendars, seasonal campaigns, product launches, or other high-volume retail marketing initiatives.
  • Experience with influencer marketing, creator partnerships, or user-generated content.
  • Experience collaborating with photographers, designers, copywriters, and video production teams.
  • Experience connecting social media metrics to website traffic, conversion, revenue, or other business outcomes.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered marketing tools and emerging social technologies.
