Job Description Summary
The Social Media & Digital Content Specialist manages Del Mar College's social media channels and digital signage program by planning, creating, publishing, and managing engaging digital content that supports the College's communications, marketing, and student engagement goals.
This position develops content through graphic design, photography, videography, and multimedia production for a variety of digital platforms. The position uses industry-standard creative software and emerging technologies, including AI-enhanced creative tools, to produce engaging, accessible, and on-brand content.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Content & Communications, this position requires strong skills in social media management, graphic design, photography, videography, and digital content production, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced communications environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Media Studies, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
At least two (2) years of professional experience managing organizational social media accounts and creating digital content for an organization, agency, or educational institution.
Experience in graphic design, photography, and videography, including creating content for digital communication channels.
Experience managing digital signage platforms or comparable digital content management systems.
Demonstrated portfolio showcasing social media content, graphic design, photography, and videography created for organizational or brand communications.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Demonstrated ability to manage organizational social media accounts, including content planning, creation, publishing, audience engagement, and performance analysis.
Proficiency in graphic design, photography, and videography with the ability to create engaging digital content for social media, digital signage, and other institutional communication channels.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent professional creative software, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom.
Working knowledge of AI-assisted creative tools and emerging media technologies, with the ability to incorporate them into content creation while maintaining quality, accuracy, accessibility, and brand standards.
Ability to adapt and optimize digital content for multiple platforms, including social media, digital signage, websites, email, and other digital communications.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with communications and marketing staff and campus partners to develop creative content that supports institutional priorities and tells the story of Del Mar College.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education or another institutional communications environment.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Experience using AI-assisted creative tools to support graphic design, photography, videography, or digital content creation.

Manage the College's official social media channels by planning, creating, publishing, and monitoring engaging content that supports enrollment, student success, institutional priorities, and community engagement.
Monitor platform performance and recommend content strategies that strengthen audience engagement.

Produce photography, videography, and multimedia content for social media, digital signage, communications campaigns, and institutional storytelling.
Manage content production from concept through final delivery while using industry-standard creative software and AI-assisted creative tools to produce high-quality, on-brand content.

Manage the College's digital signage program by planning, scheduling, and publishing content that supports institutional communications and campus engagement.
Coordinate with the Director of Strategic Content & Communications on messaging priorities and collaborate with IT to maintain signage systems and equipment.
Job Duty
Create graphic design and other visual assets for social media, digital signage, email, web, and other digital communication channels.
Ensure all creative assets are visually engaging, accessible, on-brand, and optimized for their intended audience and platform.
Job Duty
Serve as a departmental resource for AI-assisted content creation by identifying emerging creative tools and recommending responsible practices that improve content production while maintaining the College's brand, accuracy, accessibility, and quality standards.
