Life Enrichment (SNF); Job Summary Introduction

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? We are looking for an energetic, compassionate, and dependable Activity Assistant to join our team and help create meaningful, engaging experiences for our residents.

In this rewarding role, you’ll help plan, prepare, and lead activities that encourage social connection, creativity, independence, and overall well-being. From arts and crafts, games, and music to special celebrations, community outings, and large campus-wide events, you’ll help make each day enjoyable and meaningful for our residents.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with seniors, brings a positive attitude, works well as part of a team, and enjoys helping create fun, meaningful experiences for our residents. This position includes a regular weekend schedule and evening hours as part of the normal work schedule to support activities and special campus-wide events.

Job Description

Summary: Provides for an ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Qualifications: Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Must be creative and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Education: High school graduate
Licenses/Certifications: None

Experience Required: Experience as an Activity Assistant in a Skilled Nursing Setting preferred
 

Essential Functions:

• Works closely with residents and their families to assure that the resident’s activities interest is being fulfilled.
• Follows a plan of activities appropriate to the needs of the residents that includes, but is not limited to Group Social activities, indoor/outdoor activities, activities away from the facility, spiritual programs, opportunity for resident involvement in planning and implementing the activity programs. 
• Creative activities such as arts, crafts, music and educational programs, exercise activities, one to one attention, room visits when needed and promotion of facility and community interaction, and is compliant with all state and federal regulations.
• Ability to motivate residents to participate in activities
• Must be organized and efficient, must be able to set and achieve goals.
• Assist in preparing a monthly calendar of activities written in large print and posted in prominent locations that is visible to residents and visitors.
• Coordinate activity programs with other departments.
• Encourage resident participation in activities and document attendance and outcomes.
• Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, nursing staff and all departments.
• Ability to develop goals, organize and prioritize work and comply with all state and federal regulations.
