SMT Engineer - Electronics Manufacturing - Lowell, MA

Experience supporting SMT manufacturing processes including solder paste printing, pick-and-place equipment, reflow soldering, AOI, SPI, and related technologies. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield enhancement, defect reduction, cycle-time improvements, and cost savings.

• Lead SMT process development, optimization, and validation activities to improve quality, throughput, and efficiency.
• Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing machine programs, process parameters, and manufacturing documentation.
• Analyze and resolve process issues related to solder printing, component placement, reflow, AOI, SPI, and X-ray inspection systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield enhancement, defect reduction, cycle-time improvements, and cost savings.
• Provide technical support for SMT production lines and troubleshoot equipment, process, and quality-related challenges.
• Develop and maintain process controls, standard work instructions, PFMEAs, and process documentation.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Production, and Customer teams to improve manufacturability and product performance.
• Utilize data and process metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
• Support equipment qualification, process validations, and capital improvement projects

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 1-5 years of engineering experience in electronics manufacturing, SMT, or PCBA assembly.
• Experience supporting SMT manufacturing processes including solder paste printing, pick-and-place equipment, reflow soldering, AOI, SPI, and related technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, high-mix electronics manufacturing environment.
