Position Summary
The Salesperson - Small Projects (Design-Enabled) is a client-facing role responsible for driving sales, managing the customer experience, and closing residential remodeling projects ranging from approximately $10,000 to $250,000. This position serves as the primary and often sole point of contact for the client from initial inquiry through contract execution and handoff to production.
This role is sales-driven first. Design skills are required as a practical tool to support sales, scope definition, and client decision-making, not as a formal architectural or interior design function. Projects are typically smaller in scale and faster in pace, with most design, selections, and scope development handled directly with the client without involvement from architects, engineers, or external designers.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, managing multiple active opportunities, and guiding homeowners through straightforward design and renovation decisions efficiently and confidently.
Primary Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Generate, manage, and close residential remodeling projects within the Small Projects scope.
Develop business through lead follow-up, referrals, repeat clients, and targeted outreach.
Meet or exceed individual sales and revenue goals.
Serve as the first and primary point of contact for all assigned prospects.
Qualify leads, define project scope, and guide clients through pricing, options, and timelines.
Represent Small Projects professionally and consistently in all client interactions.
Client Experience & Project Ownership
Act as the single point of accountability for the client during sales and preconstruction.
Lead all client meetings, site visits, presentations, and follow-ups.
Maintain clear communication, responsiveness, and expectation-setting throughout the process.
Deliver a smooth, efficient, and positive customer experience appropriate to small-project volume and speed.
Transition projects cleanly to production with complete and accurate documentation.
Design & Scope Development (Required Skillset)
Design proficiency is required to support sales efficiency and clarity, not formal architectural production.
Develop basic layouts, space plans, and visual concepts directly with the client.
Use design software to help clients visualize proposed solutions and make timely decisions.
Assist clients with selections for materials, finishes, fixtures, and appliances within defined scope and budget.
Ensure proposed designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with project constraints.
Clearly define scope of work to support accurate pricing and smooth execution.
Preconstruction & Coordination
Prepare and manage all required preconstruction information, including:
Defined scope of work
Preliminary drawings or layouts
Selections and allowances
Pricing and estimates
Coordinate internally with production staff to ensure projects are ready for construction.
Maintain working knowledge of basic permitting requirements applicable to small projects.
Support production as needed to maintain continuity and client satisfaction.

Highly organized, self-directed, and accountable.
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
Ability to work independently with minimal reliance on external consultants.
Education & Experience
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, but not required.
3+ years of experience in residential remodeling sales, kitchen & bath, design-build, or related fields.
Experience working directly with homeowners on scoped renovation projects strongly preferred.
Technical Skills (Required)
Proficiency in SketchUp, Chief Architect, and/or 20-20 Design.
Ability to produce clear, client-facing visuals and layouts.
Comfort using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Familiarity with estimating, scopes, and basic construction documentation.
Experience with presentation tools is a plus.
