Sleep Technologist - Sleep Technologist
Burlington, MA
13 week assignment.
3rd shift - approximately 8p-6:30a, 3 days a week, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 30 hours/week.
Facility: Lahey Hospital and Medical Center


Position Description: Contract Guarantee hours= 72 Hours Biweekly on all Assignments – these guaranteed hours do not include any on-call time worked

Under general supervision of a sleep center clinical director who provides the subsequent interpretation on the studies, performs polysomnography to assess multiple physiological parameters during sleep, including but not limited to EEG, EOG, EMG, EKG, and ventilation. PSG may include initiation of therapy by physician order. Guidelines for minimal technical standards have been outlined by American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and the American Society of Sleep Medicine.
1. Demonstrates an appreciable knowledge of all Sleep procedures performed in the department.
2. Able to perform all night sleep studies and Multiple Sleep Latency tests maintaining quality assurance between 90 – 100%.
3. Able to titrate CPAP/BIPAP such that a prescription could be called in the following day.
4. Able to administer O2 therapy independently or in conjunction with CPAP/BIPAP.
5. Able to troubleshoot faulty equipment and makes necessary alterations in order to continue with the study in progress.
6. To recognize and respond appropriately to patients medical problems and physiological events, especially cardiac dysrhythmias, respiratory events, and seizures.
7. Collects patient information by reviewing existing information in the patient s medical record or from referring physician s office notes. Completes the patient questionnaire and is able to recognize/identify the patients sleep/wake complaint.
8. Is able to evaluate the study as it is being recorded and to write a preliminary report.
9. Calibrates, evaluates, and if necessary adjusts the instrument to proper technical standards in order to obtain top-quality recordings.
10. Recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate them. Recognize and documents any abnormal clinical manifestation during the testing procedure.
11. Continuing education – Attends sleep meetings, keeps informed on current and new technological advancements in the study of sleep medicine. Shows initiative in learning new procedures occurring in the lab.
12. Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles , Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.
13. Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.
14. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.
15. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
16. Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
17. Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.
18. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
19. Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
20. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
Registration or registry eligible is preferred, Must have at least a year of sleep lab experience. High school education required. Must be separated from BILH for 6 months to be considered. Epic experience required.
