Position Overview

Pivotal Health is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Sleep Technologist to support diagnostic sleep testing and the delivery of high-quality sleep medicine services. The Sleep Technologist will prepare patients for sleep studies, perform and monitor diagnostic and therapeutic testing, document study activity, and help ensure accurate data collection throughout each procedure.

This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to help patients feel comfortable during overnight or daytime testing.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare patients and equipment for polysomnographic procedures.
Explain testing procedures and help patients feel comfortable before and during their studies.
Apply electrodes, sensors, respiratory equipment, and other monitoring devices according to established protocols.
Perform and monitor diagnostic sleep studies and PAP titration studies.
Observe physiological data throughout testing and identify artifacts, equipment issues, or clinically significant events.
Make appropriate adjustments during testing in accordance with physician orders, facility protocols, and accepted sleep medicine standards.
Document observations, interventions, technical notes, and study-related information accurately.
Troubleshoot monitoring equipment and maintain proper signal quality throughout each study.
Assist with equipment preparation, cleaning, disinfection, calibration, and inventory.
Follow applicable AASM standards, facility procedures, infection-control requirements, and patient-safety guidelines.
Communicate relevant findings and technical concerns to the appropriate clinical or supervisory personnel.
Protect patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Participate in continuing education, competency assessments, and departmental quality-improvement activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education or clinical training in polysomnography, respiratory therapy, electroneurodiagnostics, or a related healthcare field.
Previous sleep laboratory or polysomnography experience preferred.
RPSGT credential through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists preferred.
Current state license, permit, or professional credential where required by applicable law or facility policy.
Current BLS or CPR certification preferred or required within the employer s designated timeframe.
Familiarity with polysomnographic equipment, PAP therapy, sleep-stage recognition, respiratory events, and common sleep disorders.
Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
Strong documentation, communication, organization, and patient-care skills.
Ability to work independently during assigned shifts while following established clinical protocols.
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, or other scheduled hours when required by the position.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and remain attentive throughout extended testing periods.
Ability to assist patients with positioning and mobility as needed.
Ability to lift, move, or carry clinical supplies and equipment within established workplace requirements.
