SkillsUSA gives students an opportunity to take what they are learning in Career and Technical Education beyond the classroom. Through teamwork, leadership, and competition, students build confidence in their abilities and begin to see how their skills can carry them into college, careers, and their communities.

The SkillsUSA Advisor helps create those opportunities at Lakeside High School. Working alongside CTE teachers, the advisor will help students establish a strong chapter, develop their voices as leaders, prepare for competition, and represent their school with pride.

Terms of Employment and Salary

As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of the Nine Mile Falls Education Association (NMEA) and the policies and procedures of the Nine Mile Falls School District. Stipend: $1,117-$1,955 for the 2026-2027 school year, depending upon applicable years of experience at Nine Mile Falls School District. Paid in accordance with the NMEA Collective Bargaining Agreement, Appendix B - Supplemental Salary Schedule, under CTE Student Organization Advisor.

Nature and Scope of Job

The SkillsUSA Advisor supports the operation and development of the Lakeside High School SkillsUSA chapter. The advisor works with CTE staff to recruit and engage students, establish student leadership and chapter expectations, coordinate participation in SkillsUSA activities and competitions, and help students access the resources needed to prepare and compete successfully.

This supplemental assignment includes responsibilities outside the regular school day. Evening or weekend activities and travel may be required when students participate in approved conferences, leadership activities, or competitions.

Employment Period: 2026-2027 School Year

Primary Job Functions

  • Promote SkillsUSA and recruit student participation across applicable Lakeside High School CTE programs.
  • Work collaboratively with CTE teachers to identify appropriate competitive events and student participation opportunities.
  • Help students establish and maintain an active SkillsUSA chapter, including chapter expectations, governing documents, and an officer or student-leadership structure.
  • Support students in developing leadership, teamwork, communication, employability, and career-readiness skills.
  • Guide student officers in planning meetings, establishing goals, and carrying out chapter activities.
  • Coordinate student registration and participation in approved SkillsUSA conferences, leadership activities, and competitions.
  • Assist students and CTE staff in identifying the materials, equipment, preparation, and other resources needed for competition.
  • Maintain a calendar of meetings, registration dates, competition deadlines, and chapter activities.
  • Communicate program expectations, schedules, costs, travel information, and deadlines to students, families, staff, and administrators.
  • Coordinate approved travel, lodging, transportation, permission forms, and student supervision in accordance with District procedures.
  • Provide appropriate supervision during chapter meetings, preparation activities, travel, conferences, and competitions.
  • Work with the ASB Manager and building administration to ensure that purchases, fundraising, fees, reimbursements, and other financial activities follow District and ASB requirements.
  • Maintain applicable membership, participation, financial, competition, and chapter records.
  • Help students demonstrate professionalism and represent Lakeside High School appropriately during SkillsUSA activities.
  • Perform other SkillsUSA-related responsibilities consistent with the supplemental assignment.

Contract Term: Continuing  Replacement  Supplemental

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements

  • Current certificated employee of the Nine Mile Falls School District.
  • Ability to organize student activities and meet registration, travel, and competition deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, CTE staff, administrators, families, and community partners.
  • Ability and willingness to provide student supervision outside the regular school day and during approved travel, as needed.
  • Ability to follow District requirements related to student safety, transportation, travel, purchasing, fundraising, and ASB funds.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with SkillsUSA or another Career and Technical Student Organization.
  • Experience advising student clubs, activities, leadership groups, or competitive programs.
  • Experience supporting student leadership and student voice.
  • Familiarity with Career and Technical Education programs and career-connected learning.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project-management skills.
  • Experience coordinating student competitions, conferences, travel, or community partnerships.
