• Pay Rate: $30.00 $33.00 / Hour (USD)
• Per Diem: $150/day x 7 days (adjusted based on project location; not provided if candidate is local candidate must reside 70 miles one way from the project site to qualify)
• Shift / Schedule: 5/10 schedule and weekends as needed; overtime rules apply
• Travel Requirements: Travel to project site location required; candidates can be located anywhere but must note which states they are willing to work in
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

The Site Safety & Health Specialist will assist the site project management team to deliver Safety & Health programs at the respective field location. This position assists with the interpretation of policies and procedures to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free work site in a heavy construction environment, and takes corrective action and educates employees when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with orientation and training employees on safety and health requirements to ensure understanding and compliance with regulations and company policy.
• Assist with providing Safety & Health program support on field construction projects to verify operations are executed as planned and conducted in a safe manner.
• Assist in planning field activities and the development of Activity Hazard Analysis with project management and provides support to eliminate Safety & Health violations including monitoring subcontractors to ensure a safe working environment for all employees on site.
• Conduct daily walk throughs and coordinate with site supervisor to effectively carry out the site-specific safety plan.
• Assist in executing Safety & Health Program deliverables as defined by the Corporate Safety & Health department.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable Local, State, and Federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
• Assist with availability and safe use of safety equipment and quantities.
• Assist in obtaining permits and monitor hot work, confined space entries, lockout/tag out, and excavation.
• Assist in investigating incidents, prepare appropriate reports, and assist management in implementation of Return to Work policy.
• Assist with communicating to local responders and medical facilities for pre-job mobilization.
• Assist with work stoppage incidents when circumstances could lead to an immediate danger to life and health on a project.
• Resolve safety and health concerns and document the details and personnel involved for the project management team.
• Assist the corporate and project Safety & Health teams in a collaborative manner to verify that the project safety program is being implemented and required safety compliance is documented.
• Assist various work teams with pre-planning safety and health hazard assessments to ensure compliance with project policies and procedures.
• Assist in identifying and documenting unique Safety & Health issues during the execution of the work at the project, and assist with implementing corrective action based on policies, guidelines and procedures for resolution.
• Distribute and communicate safety information and materials.
• Assist with correspondence to heighten safety awareness, project safety and health goals.
• Assist in maintaining project Safety & Health reporting requirements and ensure project specific Safety and Health records are in an audit ready state at all times.
• Assist in the maintenance and submittal of all documentation as required by the Corporate Safety & Health Department.
• Assist in policy and procedure development and determination of department goals and objectives; works with Safety Director to determine best means of implementation and provides feedback as to success and challenges.
• Act as liaison between customers and jobsite contacts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Construction and General Industry Regulations, as well as the American National Standards Institution (ANSI), National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH), Army Corps of Engineers (CoE), Engineers Manual 385-1 and National Electrical Code (NEC) Standards.
• Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be willing to work various schedules at the project site location.
• Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
• Ability to physically train groups of craft workers.
• Ability to conduct safety training independently, perform field inspections, walk projects and verify work meets standards, and actively engage with craft workers in the field.
• Comfortable leading orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing field training.
• Strong field presence and hands-on safety execution experience.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Zero Injury techniques of the Construction Industry Institute desired.
• First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Power Generation experience highly preferred.
• Utility/industrial construction experience aligns well.
• CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician, Board of Certified Safety Professionals) preferred for Staff-level candidates and above.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant degree required.
• OR Associate's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant degree and 2 years of construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management required.
• OR High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of construction safety, general industry safety, or construction management required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course required.
• OR OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course required.
• Education must be listed on the resume showing "Completed" next to highest degree earned.

Required Experience

• Target experience range: 3 7 years of safety experience.
• Hands-on experience executing safety programs in the field (not primarily overseeing subcontractors from a distance).
• Experience delivering structured safety training programs across a broad range of safety topics.
• Demonstrated project completion history.

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Power generation, utility, or industrial construction safety background.
• Experience supporting utility, industrial, or power generation projects.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Heavy construction field environment involving utility/industrial construction safety.
• Must be physically present at project site location; role requires active field engagement.
• Must be willing to work various schedules including 5/10 schedule and weekends as needed; overtime rules apply.
• Workers receive training on approximately 40 different safety topics; candidates should have experience delivering structured safety training programs.
• Background check including DMV/MVR required.
