Site Safety and Health Officer

Job Brief.

Our team is looking for an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer to manage assigned projects overseeing all aspects of safety, health, and environmental management onsite. Additionally, you will administer and ensure adherence to safety policies and programs and communicate safety issues to the Regional Safety and Health Manager, Corporate Safety and Health Manager, and Corporate Safety Director. Core Areas of Responsibility.

• Identify, document, and recommend a resolution of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made.
• Participate in the planning and preparation of the project safety program.
• Administer site craft safety incentives and disciplinary programs.
• Execute/support management in responding to employee work-related injuries/illness or medical/fit-for-duty evaluation of employees, if necessary.
• Support management in the repair/mitigation of company, public or private property damage arising from incidents.
• Perform investigation, root cause analysis, and management of incidents, and provide recommendations/guide and/or support the implementation of incident corrective action activities, as necessary
• Assess site-specific safety training needs and conduct site safety training.
• Assist the project superintendent in the project site-specific safety orientation.
• Collect, electronically scan, and enter all training record information and related documents into training tracking databases and appropriately store physical documents in appropriate locations.
• Support the review, management, and tracking of safety and health program documentation.
• Post The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Form 300A from February 1st to April 30th in a location accessible on the site by all workers.
• Maintain records of all first-aid treatments not otherwise reportable.
• Maintain and update safety and health bulletin board
• Assist in maintaining all safety systems and equipment, including but not limited to fire protection, fall protection, gas detectors, lock/out, tag/out and grounding systems.
• Research, select, issue, track, and reorder as necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and support the same for project-specific locations/line supervision if requested.
• Conduct regular walk-thorough inspections of construction areas utilizing prescribed predictive analytics/electronic data collection and reporting software.

Skills You Possess.

• Previous experience as a construction site safety and health officer or in a similar role
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures.
• Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the environmental and safety compliance fields.
• Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites
• As a minimum, must have completed the 30-hour OSHA construction safety class or as an equivalent, 30 hours of formal construction safety and health training covering the subjects of the OSHA 30-hour course.
• In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes
• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Strong organizational, record-keeping and follow-up skills.
