Site Safety and Health Officer - Federal Projects

Do you believe every worker deserves to go home safe, and have the backbone to make it happen on a busy federal jobsite? A federal general contractor with government and military building work across Southern New Mexico is hiring a Site Safety and Health Officer. You'll be the on-site safety lead from mobilization to closeout, building a culture where crews look out for each other and the job runs clean.

What You'll Do

• Own the site safety and health program and make sure every trade follows federal, state, local and company requirements
• Prepare and maintain the accident prevention plan and activity hazard analyses in line with EM 385-1-1
• Lead site orientations, daily safety briefings and toolbox talks for crews and subcontractors
• Walk the site every day to spot hazards, correct unsafe conditions and stop work when needed
• Investigate incidents and near misses, report findings and confirm corrective actions are completed
• Keep safety records, inspections and training logs organized and ready for government review
• Partner with the superintendent, project manager and government representatives to plan work safely

What You Bring

• 10+ years of safety experience, including at least 5 years on construction sites
• OSHA 30-hour Construction and the USACE EM 385-1-1 40-hour course
• Competent person training for the hazards on your site, such as fall protection, excavation and scaffolding
• CHST, STS, CSP or a similar certification is a plus, along with first aid and CPR
• Federal or military project experience preferred
• Strong communication and computer skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook
