Site Safety and Health Officer - Federal Construction

Are you the safety leader crews actually want on their site? A federal general contractor with military and government building work on the Texas Coastal Bend is hiring a Site Safety and Health Officer to own the safety program from mobilization through turnover.

What You'll Do

• Lead the project safety program and hold every trade to federal, state, local and company safety, health and environmental standards
• Write and update the accident prevention plan and activity hazard analyses to meet EM 385-1-1
• Run new-hire orientations, daily toolbox talks and regular site inspections
• Catch hazards before they become incidents, stop unsafe work and confirm corrective actions are in place
• Investigate incidents and near misses, document root causes and follow through on fixes
• Coach safety technicians and work hand in hand with the superintendent, project manager and government representatives

What You Bring

• 10+ years of safety experience, with at least 5 years in construction
• OSHA 30-hour Construction and the USACE EM 385-1-1 40-hour course
• Documented competent person training for the work on your site
• STS, CHST, CSP or a similar credential is a plus, as is emergency response training
• Experience on federal or military projects preferred
• Solid computer skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook, and the ability to build training materials
