Job Summary


In this role, you will oversee/teach/evaluate the students in the School of Phlebotomy. Coordinates activities common to the School of Phlebotomy. Knowledgeable and successful in performing venipunctures and skin punctures to meet the qualifications to teach students to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area. Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximizing patient care satisfaction. Works in cooperation with the Program Director within the School of Phlebotomy in meeting school goals and clinical rotation schedules.

Job Duties




+ Plans/assists in teaching the School of Phlebotomy curriculum based on the standards set forth by the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), and requirements for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), Board of Certification Phlebotomy Certification Examination.


+ Consults with the Program Director, AVP of Customer Support, Clinical Site Preceptors, and Medical Laboratory Phlebotomy management staff to maintain a quality education program.


+ Assists in the phlebotomy training and lectures for students at the School of Phlebotomy. These include Clinical Site Preceptor training, and non-lab employees training that includes GCSOM 3rd year medical students, nurses and radiology students.


+ Performs the duties at the level of a Phlebotomist lll as per CLSI guidelines.


+ Provides EPIC/Beaker training to the students at the School of Phlebotomy.


+ Recognizes and resolves issues with the students along with the Program Director.


+ Serves as a resource for the Clinical Site Preceptors.


+ Coordinates clinical rotation schedules for the students at the GSWB campus and assists with coordination in other regions as necessary.


+ In the absence of the Program Director, provides lectures, serves as the technical resource for the SOP students, Phlebotomy lll clinical site preceptors, Phlebotomy Pre-analytical Specialists, and Phlebotomy Team Leads. Knows and abides by the policies and procedures including compliance issues.


+ Oversees the maintenance and venipuncture competencies of the non-lab employees.

Requirements:

1. Clinical Site Preceptor Experience - Minimum of 3 years REQUIRED


2. Relevant experience* - Minimum of 2 years REQUIRED



+ *Relevant experience may be a combination of related work experience and degree obtained (Associate’s Degree = 2 years; Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years).





3. Education: High School Diploma REQUIRED


4. Certification (must upload to application): Certified Phlebotomy Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) REQUIRED

Education


High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required), Associate's Degree- (Preferred)

Experience
