Pay: $19.00–$22.00 per hour Primary Responsibilities Reporting to the Saddleback Area Director, the Site Director leads and manages daily Club operations to ensure a safe, positive, and engaging environment for youth. This role oversees program delivery aligned with the Formula for Impact, ensures staff and member safety, maintains facility standards, supports staff development, and represents the Club within the community. The Site Director fosters a welcoming, thematic, and well-maintained Club atmosphere while promoting strong relationships with families, partners, and local agencies. Overseeing and coordinating both lunchtime and after school programming for Club members K-6th Grade Essential Job Responsibilities 1. Safety, Supervision & Youth Development Leadership Ensuring member safety is the highest priority. The Site Director upholds the Boys & Girls Clubs’ safety standards and creates an environment where youth feel secure, supported, and empowered. Key Safety Responsibilities - Supervision of lunch time programming and afterschool programs.
- Maintain continuous supervision of all program areas with appropriate staff-to-member ratios.
- Conduct and document monthly safety drills (fire, earthquake, medical emergency, flood, evacuation, etc.).
- Coordinate emergency response procedures and lockdown systems with the Risk Management Director and Area Director.
- Train staff and volunteers on emergency plans and safety protocols.
- Implement the Five Safety Principles daily:
- Enforce personal boundaries and uphold the Code of Conduct.
- Monitor access points and maintain secure Club boundaries.
- Identify and mitigate hazards promptly.
- Understand and practice emergency roles.
- Conduct member orientations on rules, boundaries, and emergency procedures.
Program Quality & Youth Engagement - Ensure programs support Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, Healthy Lifestyles, Creative Expression, and Fun.
- Promote daily attendance goals (“More Kids, More Often”) and support member recruitment and retention.
- Encourage member participation across all program areas and provide constructive feedback.
- Promote Developmental Assets, Trauma-Informed Practices, DEI principles, and Developmental Relationships.
- Oversee guidance services that support members’ educational, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Maintain Club Pride by ensuring youth and staff keep program areas clean and organized.
- Support Club-wide mentoring programs and model positive leadership.
2. Staff Leadership & Development - Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers in collaboration with the Area Director and HR.
- Ensure new hires complete required onboarding and receive a thorough site orientation.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedforward, and annual performance evaluations.
- Develop Professional Development Plans with SMART goals for each staff member.
- Facilitate monthly one-on-one meetings to support growth and strengthen team culture.
- Encourage staff participation in organizational committees (Safety, Culture, Leadership, Training, etc.).
3. Resource & Facility Management - Assist with managing payroll and program budgets; ensure expenditures align with budget guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, program participation, and incident reports.
- Conduct daily facility and grounds inspections, including restrooms, playgrounds, walkways, and storage areas.
- Oversee transportation safety:
- Drive Club vans as needed (if qualified).
- Complete pre/post-trip inspections and maintain documentation.
- Report vehicle concerns and maintain clean, organized van interiors.
4. Partnership & Community Engagement - Strengthen community relationships to increase program visibility and support.
- Coordinate with the Marketing Team to share program updates, events, and achievements.
- Promote Club programs and events across all BGCLB departments.
- Recognize supporters by coordinating youth-created thank-you items.
- Ensure compliance with BGCA brand and graphic standards.
5. Additional Responsibilities - Approve or purchase supplies within authorized limits, including seasonal bulk purchasing.
- Support staff in planning and executing special events.
- Address member behavior using guidance, recognition, and discipline strategies in partnership with the Area Director and HR.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education - BA/BS degree in community services, public relations, communications, public administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience - Minimum of five years of experience in project management, public relations, community services, recreation programs, or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Strong judgment, flexibility, and professionalism when working with youth, families, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret and apply BGCLB policies and procedures.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building, advocacy, and networking abilities.
- Competence in research, data interpretation, and report writing.
- Ability to engage with the public in person, by phone, or via video.
Special Requirements - Valid California Class D driver’s license with satisfactory driving record and insurance.
- Successful DOJ/FBI Live Scan clearance prior to employment.
- CPR and First Aid certification within 180 days of hire.
- Completion of required Sexual Harassment Training within 90 days.
